Sacramento is on the board. Checked my two best patches last week and only a few pins were up looks like they’ve all aborted now. I decided to check some new spots. Found this giant allenii patch at the first location I went to. Many had dried out but there was a ton of pinning still happening so hopefully some irrigation will help them along.

Killer patch distancesocial. Stoked to see y'all finding during this dry spell!
Last week's leaf tek served me well this morning. Most other patches were bone dry.

Had a pretty good day here in SF.
Here's my hunting partner:

Found this lovely cyan patch almost immediately:

And then found a pretty decent allenii flush but no insitu pics.
The haul (allenii in front, cyans in the rear):

2 big patches within minutes of hunting. And then the slow trickle of lesser but still appreciated finds.
I guess you don't really need a lot of rain, just need the right micro climate.
These were all from the same general area I've been hunting this season. I kinda think this could be one of those neighborhoods where Alan used to live. I certainly think somebody spread the love over there. I'm doing my part too.

Found a few allenii just now seeing how some of my irrigated spots are doing, Redwood City area. We all know as soon as it rains it's on 😁. I'll post pictures soon, had to go home to gear up to hunt.

Are those regular Bay Area allenii or Australian genetics? They got that neat looking umbo.
Cool to see things get going down there!
I don’t know. I made a post last year specifically about this mutant colony I had found and suspected to be azures. There we’re differing opinions on them last year. Many said azures, another said subs, and Alan said mutated cyans. I’m still up in the air. I think the area I hunt was started by a fellow shroomery member, and it seems to have at least 2, if not 3, distinct Psilocybes flourishing there. Also, it’s not true Bay Area. I hunt hills of the Sac Valley a few hours away. aid they were mutant cyans that I had found last year. They do have a very peculiar look to them. Definitely not like the allenii or even cyan to me.

Most of my spots are barren too. I did manage to find these cyans complete with slug attached.

They are out there in shady spots with ground cover.

Well, this season has turned out to be my best so far. Every spot I check, turned out to be better and better. Mind you, they're all irrigated pretty much, shady north sides and ivy lurkers. But man, the places I've spread stems and mulch pieces over the years are paying off where they have laid new mulch down. The facilities manager at the office park where I pick met me the other day, and just like everyone else I come across, I'm honest about why I'm there. He gives me the okay to be at the place anytime I like and if anybody has a problem to contact him. I have more pictures because I am finally slowing down enough to be able to. Good luck everyone. Contra Costa County is fruiting now too! Found some Allenii in an irrigated flower garden yesterday before the rain started. Lots of pins in this patch so the rain today will help…very little shade here and some mature fruits already dehydrating and bluing in the sun and wind—a few miles away i found a tiny patch in some ankle/shin high grass where the shade and dew help the fruits grow much larger.
If you see a guy with his head down staring at his phone over there in the wood chips and shrubbery, he might not *actually* be looking at his phone — just using it as a foraging foil — happy hunting every body!

If anyone has any tips about hunting actives in coastal dunes LMK...Not asking for spots, I'm mostly just curious if they're associated with a particular plant/habitat or zone within the dunes? I've heard "they're in the lupins", and they're in the ice-plants, and in the clumps of dune grass.
.
I haven’t hunted dunes up there but yeah I’ve heard lupin and also under blackberry bramble (it’s leaves and dead branches are good food sources for the cyans)
Further north when hunting Azzies I seem to always have best luck right at the transition zone between tree cover and pure dune grass.

Martinez, earlier today. Had a hunch about this area near the delta—lots of public parks, condos, apartments, county administration buildings, woodchips everywhere, but not much irrigation.
Found a withering patch of cyans in the undergrowth mostly buried under oak leaves AND one colossal cap that was perfectly ripe:
