Found a few allenii just now seeing how some of my irrigated spots are doing, Redwood City area. We all know as soon as it rains it's on đ. I'll post pictures soon, had to go home to gear up to hunt.

Are those regular Bay Area allenii or Australian genetics? They got that neat looking umbo.
Cool to see things get going down there!

I donât know. I made a post last year specifically about this mutant colony I had found and suspected to be azures. There weâre differing opinions on them last year. Many said azures, another said subs, and Alan said mutated cyans. Iâm still up in the air. I think the area I hunt was started by a fellow shroomery member, and it seems to have at least 2, if not 3, distinct Psilocybes flourishing there. Also, itâs not true Bay Area. I hunt hills of the Sac Valley a few hours away. aid they were mutant cyans that I had found last year. They do have a very peculiar look to them. Definitely not like the allenii or even cyan to me.

Nice Dandurn! I decided to check some of my spots today, and ended up in my favorite hunting zone and guess what? Cyans in SF! I found 3 fairly significant flushes, left lots of pins, and harvested the biggest ones. Not bad since I thought I wouldn't find anything out there and we've really only had a small amount of rain and fairly high temperatures nearing 70.

Nice finds! Love to see it starting to happen in SF! Some real rain over the next few days, overnight temps starting to drop into the 40s.

My natural spot finally popped this week. No irrigation or landscaping. Under Fir with huckleberry bushes. Ate one fresh for the hike out. The taste was much worse than i remember and i didn't really feel any effects. Thinking about making some liq. culture and spraying the neighborhood. Imagine mass sporulation.

Contra Costa County is fruiting now too! Found some Allenii in an irrigated flower garden yesterday before the rain started. Lots of pins in this patch so the rain today will helpâŚvery little shade here and some mature fruits already dehydrating and bluing in the sun and windâa few miles away i found a tiny patch in some ankle/shin high grass where the shade and dew help the fruits grow much larger.
If you see a guy with his head down staring at his phone over there in the wood chips and shrubbery, he might not *actually* be looking at his phone â just using it as a foraging foil â happy hunting every body!

Tiny patch in Oakland in a vast area with a TON of wood chips and manicured landscapingâwas a mixed bag to only find the one flush⌠i grabbed some mycelium and spread it in nearby areas, seems like the best way to increase future prospects?

Went back to the first place I ever found actives in SF (back in November 2021) on the hunch that it might fruit early every year and found a couple of small Allenii.

The south bay and Santa Cruz area is alive and well. I made some rounds yesterday and about 80% of my patches were producing strong. Tons of pins out there, allenii and cyanescens. Even a few patches that haven't produced in a year or two were fruiting. I didn't take many photos, but this particular spot in San Jose was a nice surprise. I originally found a small handful here this time last year, then it got relandscaped with new chips shortly after. Now it's booming.

On a side note, a good portion of the allenii I picked up yesterday had pronounced umbo's as well. I didn't take photos, but they resembled those that Dandurn777 posted. Azure-esque, but likely cyan mutations.
Very stoked to see everyone's finds!

Y'all have some good looking patches boomin'!
About 3 weeks ago I found one small patch of cyans in a backyard of a customers place I was working at. That was a cool surprise for the day.
In my area (Humboldt) the fungi in general are poppin' everywhere, it's been much wetter this fall so far compared to last time around. I've kept an eye out for actives when I'm out & about but haven't found anything else yet.
I'd like to find some cyans in the dunes, it'd be cool to find 'em growing in a natural/wild environment like that. I took a stroll around the dunes recently and that's such a different habitat/setting compared to urban hunting, I totally had to re-calibrate my eyes & approach to hunting lol. Generally though I was checking out areas that were shaded, moist, and looked to have accumulated detritus/woody debris.
If anyone has any tips about hunting actives in coastal dunes LMK...Not asking for spots, I'm mostly just curious if they're associated with a particular plant/habitat or zone within the dunes? I've heard "they're in the lupins", and they're in the ice-plants, and in the clumps of dune grass.

Damn, nice allenii patch myco! I've been out again.
Found this lone cyan pin in a place I found a bunch 2 years ago in GG park:

That's the only one I've seen in the park so far.
Also found a decent size flush of Allenii, but given what the weather looks like I bet the majority of it aborts pretty soon.

And more cyans out and about:
