It's related to this early April 1st joke: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc2324 - The IETF is the organization that publishes the basic standards of HTTP, among other things.

Correct. The "I'm a teapot" status was originally added to the hypertext (HTML) standard as an April Fool's joke and stuck around. There was a recent push in 2017 to remove it from Python, Go, Node.js, etc which prompted an absolute meltdown from the community, rallying around the idea that the joke is a "reminder that the underlying processes of computers are still made by humans".
Language maintainers sided with the community and unanimously decided against removing "I'm a teapot".

I always thought it was a play on that childern's song "I'm a little teapot, short and stout. Here's my handle, here's my spout".
The joke being that a person doesn't know their gender, therefore a cute inanimate object such as a talking teapot is "close enough".

Yikes. I thought "I'm a teapot" status means that the person is homosexual Because I've read this in a slang dictionary and this setting is in a gender section.

And here I always thought it was a play on the old "you're a glass of orange juice, don't spill yourself" bs that people tell folks that took too much man, too much
