Lions mane is extremely wispy like that. Those are small fruits forming in the jar. Unless they’re not white and I can’t see I’d spawn it. When I’m unsure if it’s finished or not I’ll gently tilt the jar and if none of the grains roll around I consider it done.

Also, god damn that jar is full! :lmafo:

Thanks for the tips! The bottom of the jar is mushy and takes a long time to colonise. I gave it a shake and now it looks like the top half is not colonised at all, going to give it some time. The things that you said are possibly fruit bodies forming, they're slightly yellow.

My first grain jars. I used the no prep tek and it hydrated so much that the jar ended up full. My next jars are looking much better

Yikes, that could have ended very badly with exploded jars and a huge mess. Never heard of no-prep oats and boiling to hydrate, especially on a smaller scale, is just too damn easy to mess with. Oats especially shouldn’t have corners cut like that. Glad it didn’t happen for you.

Looking back at the photos more closely I see what you’re taking about now. There might even be a small spot of bacteria at the bottom right of the last photo. With all the mush and potential bacteria I’d probably toss those and try again. My bad, should have looked more closely.

Just so you know, after shaking the myc did not survive. Blatant bacterial contam. I guess was to be expected
