An Ostrich Egg! Any suggestions?

As a little kid i was intrigued by the idea of eating (part of!) an Ostrich Egg, always wanted to do that. At the end of the season, a local ostrich farm has fresh unfertilized ostrich eggs for eating, i procured one for my bucket list.
i love boiled eggs and making salad thereof, but i want to bring out the flavor of the egg and do something special.
An ostrich egg is basically 25 chicken eggs rolled into one.
An omelet comes to mind.
Any ideas?

You might like some of my eggs recipes. I eat 21 eggs a week - work days they're just fried but the weekends are for getting fancy
This was a last weekend. 3 egg omelette with bacon bits, jalapenos, salt and pepper, chili and cheese cooked into the fold, then topped with more cheese, sour cream and salsa. Plus strawberry jelly on toast and a vegetarian sausage patty (I'm not vegetarian, I just like those sausages better than real ones)

This morning was a simpler omelette (cheese, bacon bits, and peppers), with ham and waffles topped with syrup and yogurt

Any word on what an ostrich egg tastes like? I like eating weird stuff even if it isn't great and I'm always experimenting with my breakfasts so some alternative eggs sounds like something to try out
You'd need a damn big skillet to cook an ostrich egg and invite about 10 people over to eat it.

First of all congratulations for taking care of your inner child. Not everyone will understand the inner child concept but I couldn't avoid thinking about the importance of nurturing your inner child.
As per what to do with the egg: omelets, quiche, Spanish tortilla, fried rice, egg noodles, custard. Whatever you decide, enjoy and let us know how it went.

Exactly that. Culinarily, most eggs taste alike, but its all about catering to my inner child.
No one was there for him then, but I am now
ostrich eggs are said to have a creamier white because of more protein, and a tasty yolk with less fat and cholesterol.
leaning towards an omelet.

The idea of sous-vide crossed my mind, but after looking into it, probably not the best application as it would be tricky to determine the appropriate amount of time to cook in order to allow proper setting of the yolk without oversetting the whites.
An omelet seems reasonable, although I personally like the idea of a Spanish tortilla the best, regardless, cooking some two dozen eggs into a single dish is going to be a bit of a challenge!

You could blend it up, cook part of it and keep the rest in the fridge to cook later.

Chef Cussalot suggests scrambled eggs with (cow)butter, spring onions, chillipepper, creme fraîche and salt:
I think i'm gonna go with that!
scrambled eggs allow for heating it through and through and easy portioning.
I got a new super thick cast iron skillet just right for the job!
If i an find my phone charger there will be pics.

You got it! squeezed the last pic out of my battery
OSTRICH EGG!
As a little kid I wanted to eat an Ostrich egg once, well part of it because 1 ostrich egg = 25 chicken eggs = 2000 kcal. This year, a local ostrich farm provided the opportunity by offering unfertilized eggs for cooking at the end of laying season. I got mine!
I tapped a hole in the egg with my chef's knife, the sharp corner nearest to the hand, gently tapping a round hole, removing the shards, then ripping the membrane, overturning the egg, tapping an air hole in the top, and coercing the egg out.
I fired up a deep skillet (1.25 liter of egg!), i put chunks of grass-fed cowbutter in the egg, plopped it in the hot skillet stirred it on high fire that i gradually reduced, adding spring onions, a fresh pepper, créme fraîche and salt.
I kept stirring to the right consistency and took this snapshot, the eggshell stands on an eggcup so it doesn't touch the scrambled egg.
It is delicious, restaurant quality if i do say so myself
They are right in that it is creamier and a richer flavor, and more filling, than chicken eggs. Not something you want to burden the Ostrich community with eating regularly, but once in a lifetime, for that little kid i was who saw a photo of an ostrich with a communal nest of maybe 100 eggs and was like "eeee! i wanna eat one of those eggs!" Here's for you kid, isn't it even better than you imagined about 45 years ago?

Chef's note: don't be intimidated by the legendary unbreakable ostrich egg, as if you need to use an ice pickaxe to get in. It's just an egg, just a thicker shell.Drop it on the floor and it breaks. A chick has to get out of it, if you use the same tool, a pointy sharp thing like the heel of your chefs knife, gentle tapping easily breaks it up and of you do that gentle enough the membrane wont even break so you an pick out and blow off the rumbs and dust. A bit between the teeth crumbles without damaging your teeth. A mug can serve as an eggcup. I chose a mild pepper variety to not overpower the taste of the egg too much and stopped short of the seeds.
If you apply Chef Ramsey's instrutions like a chemist, you get Cheflike results without cussing out waiters kitchen staff and innocent bystanders.
oh, diabetics: i ate 1/3 of this for breakfast and it didnt raise blood sugar, even lowered it a bit, as is to be expected as time passed.

the head is as big as the yolk.
'birdbrained'
ostriches put their eggs in one basket, one communal nest they take turns guarding against egg thieves like me
The egg was €17.50 - why not for once in a lifetime?
As a culinary treat its a gimmick, i don't think the taste compared to chicken eggs is worth the expense. The novelty however, like with quail eggs, is.
--
I'm thinking of grinding the washed shell to a powder. If you make rhubarb, you need a little edible lime to reduce the oxalic acid. Ground eggshell does just fine, and what eggshell better than the legendary ostrich egg?
on second thought, i'm gonna dissolve the crushed shell in vinegar, filter and crash out the chalk and magnesia with baking soda. That makes it super fine and refines it, the foodgrade way.
Doesnt a jar with OSTRICH CHALK in the spicerack sound Halloweenie?
