Using three syringes for a cake in a glass cereal bowl, two other tall 1/2 pint cakes and five homemade petri dishes.

The spore syringes are two glass hobby syringes I got over amazon a while back plus the initial syringe.  I have not successfully created a spore syringe in years but I did everything right so wish me luck or send good vibes.

The glass syringes did not seal up very well so I conditioned them with vegtable oil and that appears to of done the trick.  The first spore print I made was the amazonian variety and thats the one I used to make the syringes.  I specifically tried to find the amazonian variety because I was under the impression that it was the original pf tek variety, and they were fucking potent.

The amazonians fruiting bodies were small, but they’re potency was dick in the dirt good. I waited too long on one of the mushrooms and it went ahead and spored out on me.  I had to perform an emergency jar sterilization. I did and the spore print was a success.

I hadn’t created a spore syringe since I believe 1999.  I’m excited to find out if it’s viable.

I bought the homestead book co. Kit back in the day around the same time so I have done petri cultures successfully.
I labeled the syringes 1-2-3 and added a cryptic code.
I decided to use my ghetto sab(seethrough storage bin)in a non traditional manner.  I didn’t use it for the cakes because You dont need a sab for pf tek substrate inoculation.  I did use my sab when squirting my rustic petri plates, but all I did was flip it on it’s side and did everything in the corner.

Now I wait and see if the syringes are viable or not.  I’m not too worried about it because the spore solution was thick.  The water had a dark tint because of all the spores.

The  glass syringes had a few flaws but I do believe Ive worked around them.  They dont suction the water in very well and they tended to leak when tipped. To alleviate this I put dabs of modeling clay on the tips.  It worked splendid.

My setup.

My makeshift petri plates.

My larger than usual pf tek cake.  For the rubber band I used the elastic band on an old gym sock.

My freshly loaded spore syringes.  Two glass, one plastic.

Update:  my ghetto petri plates ended up looking like this.

This one colonized half way but the other half took on a reddish hue.  I deemed it unusable.

This one didnt even bother to get contaminated.

This one got some trick.

These last two became highly unusable.

But there was a diamond in the rough.

This mycelium was so voracious it started to climb the walls.

Woohah!

I ran across ten petri plates that were allready pre-made with agar. I took a risk and used them.  One of the plates was crushed so only nine were usable.

I ended up with four plates from the ghetto petri plate.  I loaded three of other plates with some drops from a ps. Tampenesis syringe.  I tried my hand at tissue culture cloning too with some fiji immature fruiting bodies.

Send good vibes.

Anybody heard of something called ‘salt’ agar?
