Reishi - brown growth?
    #28513387 - 10/21/23 07:06 PM (3 months, 5 days ago)

Hello, my first Reishi harvest. Please excuse my ignorance, but what is that brown stuff near the base of the fruit? Not sure if that is part of the mushroom or some kinda brown mold? I was gonna toss it to be safe. I ground it up for tea ... but now I am not so sure.

Any  feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you and have a nice day,

I think it's the reishi spores which landed on itself.

Not sure what it is but there is also some powdery stuff forming on reishi that I think is not spores.

(spores on the left and powder on the right)

They say metabolites.

Sorry for the bump, but this is the most relevant thread I've found for my issue. I'm harvesting reishi that I let fruit in the bags for over 4 months. The majority of them wound up with the yellow spore-like powdery substance that gr0wer's did.

I'm sure it's dried metabolites or something from the lack of FAE, but I want to make sure they're fine to harvest, dehydrate, and use later for tincture or power. I want to make sure I don't need to rinse or do anything first.

Here's a picture:
