Gold is finally breaking out
    #28512652 - 10/21/23 08:10 AM (3 months, 6 days ago)

It's been a rough decade for gold, but it's finally breaking out. This is a very attractive entry point I believe.

Everyone has been saying how with multi decade high inflation, the performance of gold has been disappointing, maybe it's time it turns around. Commodities have taken a backseat to the Nasdaq companies since 2012. But maybe this is a normalization of credit cycles where bonds have expected real return, commodities have their place in the economic cycle, and zero percent interest rate companies that don't make a profit have a harder time coming to market without a path to profitability.

The flip side of thinking that gold could rise at 7-10% a year for multiple years is that oil may also rise substantially and I've been vocal in the past that following the fed's aggressive rate increases a spike in energy prices to all time highs would be the chef's kiss on recessionary conditions and no one is looking at oil to hit $120-$160 a barrel. I don't know what causes it, but it would only be fitting for this economic cycle.

Anyway Go GOLD!

Money supply / purchasing power sensitive assets do appear to be getting a lift, and I would likewise suggest that cryptocurrency will be a major beneficiary of this cyclical shift.  There are also some fundamental catalysts for crypto moving forward, not the least of which are its continued integration into the legacy financial system through the widely anticipated approval of a US based bitcoin Exchange Traded Fund sometime within the next year, the bitcoin "halving" cycle, as well as continued adoption of crypto in various industries.

To note, I like gold just fine as part of a well rounded asset allocation strategy, but I think crypto assets, bitcoin in particular but also secondary digital assets such as Solana, can vastly outperform, so long as one can stomach their overall volatility.

I would not say it's "breaking out", but more that it's been  deliberately suppressed for a very long time.

Having said that, demand including from Central "out of thin air" rip off banks have been high for quite some time (at least since convid)...as it appears they are backing both horses - purely digital programmable money or gold backed digital - we all know which they would prefer.
