Bad habits

Feel free to share your experiences. This is a place to acknowledge our bad habits. By having them written down. They have less power.
I will start. I love to spit. As an artist. I find it incredibly powerful. But it’s still a bad habit.
If you want advice on how to end these bad habits. Meet me in the pillow fort. https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/28504950

I think the terrain in which habits are rooted is more complicated than your calling out in public game suggests.
how is that spitting going? how does it feel in your mouth? how does it look when you hiss and spit? upon what, or whom, do you spit? when do you swallow a load instead of releasing it? what postures to you take when you spit?
each of these questions should open up a range of experiences, all of which have a measure of involvement in your "habit", which is not so easy to unhook from the rest of your personality by public admission or other simple exposure.
that's my opinion.
habits are like baggage, good and bad. Observing them daily and how they are embedded in personality can be a good and liberating habit.

It has to do with OCD. When I was a little kid, I got into a thought loop. Where I thought that spitting would prevent me from swallowing anything poisonous or unpleasant. So it became incredibly satisfying, and easy for me to just spit. Now normally it only comes up when I have bad mouth feel. But it is still incredibly tempting to just spit whatever is causing that badmouth feel out. Artistically. I use it to make a statement about my extreme displeasure in a situation. You can use it to punctuate displeasure quite well. It’s a physical act that is so easily conscrewed that you can go anywhere in the world and use that to convey displeasure. That is a pretty incredibly powerful physical statement. If it’s able to breach any language in the world. That being said, the only reason people can understand it. Is because it is understood to be offensive around the world. So I don’t.😅

Cracking my knuckles.
Checking my pockets to see if I lost my phone or wallet..
And then sometimes getting a wrong dose slightly higher or lower than appropriate with DXM..

If you’re open to it, I have some suggestions.
Cracking your knuckles is just a form of anxiety. You just need something else to do with your hands. Like playing with beads. Having some form of fidget spinner.
Next time you don’t know where your phone is. Just yell to Siri to play some music. Or turn on the flashlight.
Get a scientific scale. They’re about 60 bucks. You’ll never have to worry about your measurement again.

cracking knuckles initiates a familiar sound and feeling of release (there is an actual gas accumulation - related to circulation fluctuation and cellular respiration - and that gas makes the sound when the knuckles move). even if you do not need the kind of self soothing that the knuckles can provide, the habit that builds the gas (which may even involve diet) deserves observation, and tunnel carpel exercises can relieve the knuckle gas (CO2) buildup if you are serious about tackling this.
the pocket checking makes sense, wardrobe failures may require concerted efforts to manage. I struggle with this, but usually manage with a zippered blazer or jacket that can be layered under or over. I use a small shoulder bag when traveling, as the passport size does not match my phone and credit card needs.
for DXM dosage response variance - we both know that the body responds differently to even the same dose. you have to be accepting of the variance of what happens even with the most scientific preparations (and those can detract from the 'mood').

When your combating anger like I do. You don’t want anything that can raise your ire. I find this to be a very powerful, artistic statement. But it’s made out of anger. Here is evidence to back up my claim. https://www.thenews.com.pk/amp/1109884-sean-penn-accuses-will-smith-of-spitting-on-himself-alludes-his-1987-assault

I disagree with there being only one context to spitting, though spiting at someone is a common insult of anger. I assume you are not spitting at yourself or others? Being not the case, do you yet spit out of anger? Or is that just an association you've made via the common denominator of spitting? Or some of both?
Also, one can state that what Smith did is bad, embarrassing, foolish, etc. but it doesn't follow that all anger is bad so an alternate question would be, is anger bad?

I just find it to be unappealing. It feels very satisfying to me. I think I started doing it because I was angry and had OCD. I would not want to go back into that habit. So I would definitely consider it a bad habit the way i do it.

With regards to cracking knuckles..
I do agree it is part of anxiety.
But I also relate it like when too fighters are waiting to fight they crack there knuckles, chest and spine and maybe hips... like trying or being ready for a confrontation.

Are you stressed? Because I have a friend that keeps trying to quit smoking. But they keep getting another pack. I think it’s because they don’t like their job.

It started just smoking a cigar when camping. Which I did here and there. Then I just kept smoking them. Am I stressed? immensely I just got nicotine gum, haven't tried it yet. I am inching closer to stopping

I always find that if you’re about to do a bad habit. It can help to instead do a different activity. Like every time you want to smoke a cigar. Instead, you should work out. But that’s just an opinion.

That would be ideal in a perfect world. I am far to busy. But, that is how I have dealt with other things in the past. I 100% plan to quit. Waiting on an upcoming time period where i'll have more flexibility.

That sounds really nice.
I have been wanting to go to the beach for a month. Thats where Cyanescens tend to grow. I also just miss the water. It would be way too cold to swim though.

I love the water and the trees. Definitely to cold to swim. I have jumped in middle of winter to shock my soul. I went to a Banya a few times with a friend. And it was amazing. I was drowning in grief and jumped in the lake. Definitely worth it. though Banya was easier.

Not folding my laundry instantly. It feels like you get 15 minutes after it comes out of the dryer to fold it. If you don’t do it by then. It just sits around for way too long.
