It's kinda like winning a consolation prize except now he is third in line for being president.
Mike Johnson, the Repube from Louisiana, is a powerhouse. He will waste no time getting things done for working families.

And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”

They will do so only to table the motion and shelve it forever.
There is no way in HELL the GOP is going to boot one of their own with such a small majority.

It's too soon to say for sure about Mike Johnson. Maybe he will think about his place in history, and what could be accomplished with some bipartisan deals for the country.
Or, I was completely wrong and MAGA did get an extremist through because he didn't have enough name recognition to scare the people who were supposed to be scared. But all the Republicans voted for him including the 8 0r so we were thinking was sane.
IDK what the GOP strategy is here; do they?

The GOP strategy is to stay in power no matter what.

Seems his mark on history of choice might be mainstreaming actual theocratic government at the federal level. It has worked at the state level, and the current SCOTUS seems to be very theologically motivated right now.
Past that, I'm guessing status quo business as usual but with extra brinksmanship and light dysfunction.
He can't actually break the system, because his ideals are wildly unpopular and without mass support, you need the legitimacy granted by the system to take power. Nor is the system fully ready to hand control to the High Sparrow. So, nothing significant changes, except for the rhetoric. Increase acceptance, bend the system to your will over time.
The appearance of dysfunction through brinksmanship also markets pretty well to a certain part of the population, while spreading the idea that the system should be reformed in the near future.
