Done.

I suppose it might be a result of over crowding. Like they're on Star Treks planet Gideon or something.

Well, i am quite sure that very low FAE leads to spaghetti and smaller caps. the same culture gave me gnarly and quite thick stemmed fruit the other time. those had plenty fae and regular misting.
this time i dubtubbed and even restricted fae with tape (half of each side) to make sure that they maintain high humidity while i am gone.
is this gonna hurt yield? maybe, not that i care much. we'll see..
i used one quart spawn in a 1:3 mix with CV.

Oh we defo could and should. It's just that I don't know who Oli is (to my shame maybe?) and if he/she is active still.
Hence why saying TCO might be our last hope. Or maybe someone's in touch with Oli and can ask him/her to chime in here?

I don't know why I can't shake the weirdness feeling lol. It's entirely possible I'm just tripping and it's like Aka said. It was 2007-2008 and we were using the most raw prints. I believe Workman had only run a generation of the Heim and Cailleux before giving me a print.

Out of curiosity, what's the largest diameter cap people have been getting? The largest I have had.. and it's been a while, were about 2". The more recent runs have been around an inch.

These were the largest cap I grew recently, mudda bottles in a JCM, not super upturned. Fast to pin, fast to print. Largest was probably 4 cm max, which is 1.5 inch:

I've just checked my JCM and the mudda bottles in atm, coming from Angam's lineage via Konbri pinned 12 days after being but in fruiting conditions. Standard then.

Also checked the Zapos thread. Very interesting. But I'll keep my curiosity (lack of focus?!) in check and stick to finding the old Semp lineage

Edit: same fruits as above from different angles

I’m confused about lineage. Is Heim and Cailleux lineage desirable or are we saying there are better options out there? I ask because Heim and Cailleux is a what a trusted vendor is offering.

Sorry. I have a tendency to use the names people release in open forum. I use my own fairly often in private conversations and people tend to return the favor as we get to know each other. Feels more personal that way which is pretty cool.

After a little meditation and review on the topic, I'm comfortable believing most of my suspicion is simple phenotyping and the severly upturned caps are the result of crowding as they seem to show the most in heavy canopy and higher fae situations. Damn that's a long sentence.
What makes me nervous is other finds like Xico in the mix. I believe traceability to each find is important. It's not like it was back in the last shrooms boom where all we had was a few forums to manage. People either posted or didn't and those who didn't communicated in different ways.
Today those different ways have expanded to the chaos of social media and behind the closed doors of chat rooms. It's sad really. I believe all information, be it judged by the current regime of myth busters and anti outdated knowledge people as  worthy of discussion or not, should be shared in open forum for all to gain from through experience. Gatekeeping and insistence of only one way is an attitude that makes people not want to be here. Unfortunately, it's our loss as a community and yes I saw one of those threads again thus the rant. So glad these people seem to stay away from exotics. If you're tired of talking and reading what you click on maybe you should be the ones not on a forum.

Btw. My name is Michael.

So anyways, anyone aware of any other finds beyond Xico?

That would be Workman. He's the one that fired up
and blessed us with the original find around 2007 I think it was.
At the time I believe they were on the endangered species list in Mexico so some of us were sending spores to Cactu who was reintroducing them via slurry back into the wild. A few years later they came off the list. So there could be some concern regarding wild vs transplant.
The only other find I'm aware of atm is Xico. Which I heard about here.

That's a pretty classic look. The speed is strange.. to me though. I haven't encountered any of these that are fast.

As far as I'm concerned it doesn't matter. As long as spores keep being spread by transplanted myc then it's saving the species

That's the most important thing. I just have a breeders anality lol.. and a great love of diversity within the whole. But none of that matters if the whole doesn't continue.

In that beautiful country and not on a global level. We were probably a small fraction of help if anything. Mushrooms have a funny way of disappearing for years and even decades. Then they just burst out of the woodwork again. I'm witnessing it this year here.. as a deer munches my Boletes.

More of a trip down memory lane. I was flashing back to some of the old crew and Elektrolurch came to mind. Miss that one dearly. Anyways after a few misspellings lol I managed to google it up.

i am confused. since i opened the boxes and gave them a misting, these have began to curl up ..
anybody else has seen it happen?
the increase in fae is so minimal that I don't see any other factor here..

Slow genetic line from Yoshi is going up. Growing very slowly but more potent than fast one.
