Abstaining from voting is not the same thing as opting out. You can still make the argument that people who don’t vote “have no say,” but I disagree.

If I went to a deli and I had to choose between a sandwich that was 75% shit and 65% shit, I can just not eat. To say that I then couldn’t say it wasn’t a good sandwich just because I didn’t choose one isn’t a good position. The only difference is I’m still eating some part of that sandwich even if I don’t vote. But fuck dude, I have the right to say no.

Not really, it just gives the idiots that are still voting more say in which dipshit gets control of the government.

At the very least, make an effort to minimize the damage that idiots can cause. Even if you think you're not participating by opting out, you'll eventually be forced to participate in legislative results of that system, the big difference is that you have absolutely 0% say in what happens when you choose not to participate.

Do you see the captain & me understand.
Just because the system doesn’t appeal to you. Doesn’t mean you aren’t still bound to it.
At the very least, you could try to choose what you want. Or at least what you prefer.
This would not make a ton of people vote. But it would make more people vote. I feel like if more people had their voices heard they wouldn’t be so right wing extremist to begin with.

No, just because their opinion may be different than ours. Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t get to Xpress it.
If we all got a vote. It would be the same thing. It’s not just Republicans that shouldn’t be voting. There’s a bunch of shit head teenagers. That should be voting too and I’m not looking forward to what they have to say.

I wouldn’t mandate it.
But all of those libertarians and shithead teens would probably appreciate five dollars…

If everyone participates in the system, then we all can benefit from it. That’s all I’m saying.
Of course, education is the best solution for bad voting.

In the nicest way, absolutely not. I mean you keep talking about republicans like that even means anything. Most people, probably yourself included, are so uninformed about anything political that you’d need a year of research to begin catching up. There’s so much misinformation out there, and it’s out there because people are easily swayed by it. Most people know less than nothing about what’s going on and they get to vote.

Nah. I agree they should have the right. You can’t pick and choose who gets to vote. That’s tyranny. But I recognize it’s a problem.

I wont vote in the coming election if its the same old red team blue team bullshit. red or blue the bombs keep dropping.  the drones keep droning and the same right wing scotus will be what it is no matter what i tick and it all comes out of my paycheck. Ive caught flack from wannabe fem activists for that. for sure as a male i have a privelage.  Reproductive laws dont exactly effect me but heres the thing:

the president has zero power over that.  they determine foreign policy and as far as that goes, trump was actually more in line with my proletariat agenda than biden or obama were but at the end of the day it was like turning the volume knob down from 11 to 10 momentarily.  The predator drones just keep coming.  34% of any paycheck goes towards bombs and that wont change no matter whos in office.

show me a candidate whos ready to pull the plug and ill vote.  until then you can find me wearing my plate armor doing actual activism and doing everything i can to change what i can.

as ive said before, biden could have motioned to codify roe v wade to the constitution but chose not to.  I dont care what the canadian pundits in this server think, it was obviously a campaign decision.  No legalized weed.  no student debt forgivenes.  just bombs bombs bombs and more cops.  same tax plan.  same trade agreements.  more kids in cages. more bombs.  im not voting.

if youve a shred of faith left in democracy im afraid you just havent been paying attention.  local politics are of greater importance to me but theyre all still feeding from the same trough.

I do still believe in democracy.
I just think people are purposefully clipping its wings.
Everyone needs to use ranked voting in this country.
Then we can vote for third-party politicians without feeling like our vote was burned.

I love you my dude but youre dreaming.  I was a dreamer when I was a little bit younger. I actually voted for obama. I think that was the final straw for a lot of people of my generation.

Cornell West is taking a stab at it.  OF COURSE he has my vote if the dems dont wing him in the primaries but Im not holding my breath.  Chances are theyll make him caucus for it and we all know how that pans out.

no disrespect man.  im just a little more jaded than you are.

Because you’ve had to see more disappointment in your life.

Give me more time I’ll become as jaded and cynical is the rest of you.

But I still think that rank choice voting is the solution to people feeling like voting in the two party system is pointless.

Maybe we could even have two people from each party be options to have a vote.
That way people could vote for the extremist Republican, and the moderate Republican. The extremely invested in the environment Democrat versus the shitty one.
It would be hard to argue against that being a solution for it.

Hey i appreciate you enthusiasm.  Ive got friends whove been working in non-profit trying to push for this very thing every day--40 hours a week.  They're always accepting volunteers to canvas.  Youre more than welcome to get involved.

I have one such friend.  founder of a non-profit in fact.  Ive been with her to see her cry into her cups at the hopelessness of it all.  I tell her "you dont owe anyone anything.  youve put the best years of your life into this thing and i see it just makes you miserable"

she says "i know.".  we hug, pay the check and she carries on.

Trudeau over on canada ran on the platform that he would do election reform, he didnt give details, but hey Amy reform would be good, but he lied, he realized he wouldnt win in that situation or something and did not do anything he said

Truth of the matter is that minimal government is always best, and we have a hydra for government right now. And it will never shrink. Revolution is cyclical. It will become a tyranny, collapse, and be replaced. Ad infinitum

This is called the
“Golden age cycle”
Greece for instance.
When any society has reached peak “success”.
While ignoring social issues to enshrine wealth going to the wealthy.
It stagnates, stifles creativity, becomes hedonistic. Then collapses.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Fire_of_Rome
They hired a literally insane person to run Rome.
Sound familiar?

Fertilizing marijuana is too much work and is unnecessary.
Just pee in a bottle and water them with that every day.
They love it and it’s sterile.
(This applies only to small scale)
Not enough pee 😜
