First time in a couple years found a G. speciosissimus:

This was early in the season (October 5 or so) where I normally hunt for G. subspectabilis. It's an early 20th-century neighborhood with a lot of current+former oak trees. Just over 1kg from this basketball-sized mass. Turned it into my strongest gym trip so far!

That looks like a nice flush! I didnβt know that Gymn was active, Iβm only really tuned into the subs. Whatβs your general location if you donβt mind me asking?

A really pristine harvest, saved this cluster with perfect timing in case the rains this weekend ruin them. First real harvest of the season for me.
Have fun out there guys, and if anyone notices anything peculiar about their gymns, let me know! We still don't know a ton about their growth habits and I'm still investigating this genus as a whole so I can make this guide more comprehensive!
Love to see the gymn love

Amazing!

A day later I came back to photograph the sporegasm money shot. Those orange leaves are periwinkles covered in spores. Get ready for a mess if you try to get your hands on these!

Iβm no gym expert, but those donβt really look like gyms to me. Mainly because Iβve found similar that definitely werenβt, and that veil fragment on the top left of the cap doesnβt look right to me. Gymns are part or the Cortinarius family, they have cobweb like veils. Though, take me with a grain of salt, wait for a more knowledgeable member to chime in.

Nope, still not the ones.
You're probably better off asking for an ID request in a new post rather than in this pinned guide thread.
Also, if you are in Washington, as in the state, you should familiarize yourself with the Gymnopilus species that occur in your area and their growth habits. I believe those would be G. luteofolius and G. voitkii (if the latter actually contains psychoactive tryptamines, which I don't believe has been established yet). G. Luteofolius is pretty distinctive looking.
