I believe another vital thing to do when dealing with the current study of Gymnopilus is to create a separate XLS spreadsheet (Excel, Libre Calc, Etc.). It should simply show every single known Gymnopilus observation/record along with the species of tree/wood associated with it. I recommend inviting multiple people to do this, rather than making this a one-person show. Cheers!
One graphic/illustration resource that mushroom hunters need is a global wood/tree identification illustration resource that is profoundly intuitive, easy, fast, and accurate. If someone out there is looking for meaningful non-profit work, this is yet another great opportunity to contribute to mycology in a selfless, excellent manner.

Not much bruising on these but they definitely give me a big smile but after a while of heavy drinking, sitting down feels like I'm in a rocking boat lol My buddy's thought it was pretty funny while we were camping especially when you gotta make it from the fire to the tent. I have a jar full of them and swear they are just a good mood enhancement sober.
I'd send spore samples to whomever'

Really looking forward to getting out and hunting this year… To all you NJ/NY area guys, when would be the best time to start looking?

Those are not the Gymns you're looking for...
Nah but in all seriousness, those don't look like an active species. They remind me of G. penetrans, or maybe G. liquiritae. They are absolutely Gymns though, so nice find! Your experience likely was placebo, but since other Gymns are known to produce bioactive kavalactones, it could have been a genuine psychoactive effect. More research is needed here for sure!

I start checking my spots now, but full clusters of large fruits typically don't pop up until October around me. Subspectabilis in particular can take over a week for pins to form mature mushrooms. I've even watched them stall during a week of dry weather, before maturing the following week after some rains

Awesome, thanks for the heads up. I’ll be keeping my eye out for sure. On a side note I’ll be trying the tea I made from the flush I found back in June either this Saturday or the next depending on how bad the rain is. I’m stoked and hope I’ll finally get my psychedelic feet wet!

It hasn't happened just once. I had taken these forehand for several days spaced out on and off as a test of effect, nothing crazy psychedelic wise, but I haven't gone bold yet These give the biggest smile at 1g, nothing overwhelming but I catch myself smiling and just doing things without the constant forethought I get. (Fuck anxiety) Buttt when I did more than 2 grams in a afternoon I was drinking. An taking a gram,, then 2 more later on(1hour), two nights in a row, I was just happier than shit and goofy. But later when it was time to go to sleep and it's a 12 pack and a day under the sun later I was rocking on a boat by the camp fire and in bed both nights lol vertigo~~ I like them either way and would love a compound analysis! Anyone got a mail in lab I could send a sample and get results?? Hit the I'll dig up some O'bama

Hell yeah guys that give me hope! I’m going to go out hunting tomorrow and most likely next week. Btw the tea I made definitely did what I wanted it to do. It was amazing. I’m no longer a psychedelic virgin haha Still writing up the report but when I’m done I’ll post a link here too in case anyone is curious. It was = to 101 grams fresh fruit.
