Help with ID please.
    #2849627 - 07/02/04 02:04 AM (12 years, 7 months ago)

Well, after spending a lot of time on the shroomery today I began to feel a bit jealous because it seems like everyone is finding mushrooms except me.  I decided to go on a bike ride about two hours ago and next thing I know I am in a pasture....coincidence? HA!  Well enough of that. here is all I found:  the whopping two mushrooms!!!!
yay.......

found right next to each other growing directly in dung(horse? cow?I dunno) in SW Florida.
please help. thank ya. :mushroom2:

*edit - it is very difficult to tell if they are bruising or not because of the spores that are stuck to the stem.  has a hint of blue, but vague.

they are Panaeolus and look as though they could be Pan. cyanescens. is there any blue bruising, i can't get a good idea of the color with the stipes that out of focus and with this monitor.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

very vague, but there does seem to be a little bluing on the bigger stem
*edit - tried taking a closer pic, but I already mangled the stem up trying to get it to bruise. it does seem to be hollow, but its too skinny to even tell.

I think they are both Copelandia cyanescens. Nice find.

Those are Copelandia mushrooms fur-shure.

In a couple weeks the Copelandia mushrooms in southwest florida should be growing with about 60-100 Copelandia shrooms to a cow pattie and too many to even be picked.

Yeah, you'll probably need at least 3 or 4 fresh Copelandia mushrooms to feel anything, and the average dosage is about 10-12 fresh mushrooms or equal to about 1-2 dried grams. Copelandia mushrooms are typically 3-4 times more potent than Cubensis mushrooms measured by-weight.

I was just out driving around Myakka City eyeballing a bunch of fields from the road and all i really saw were the non-active Panaeolus antillarum mushrooms. And it seems dry outside right now despite the rain we've had, but its raining right now.

Im sure there are a few Cubes to be found in most fields right now, but from the roadside all i spotted were antillarums and only in small clusters of 1-4 or 5 mushrooms each. Panaeolus antillarum also will grow with 50-1or200 mushrooms to each cow pattie. They are non-active.

Keep shroomin,
GG

When the summer-season is prime, Copelandia mushrooms flourish in southwest florida. Literally thousands of them, too many to even pick, and with 20-50 Copelandia on each cow-pie you have to move quick because of the bugs, and just grab 5-10 of the freshest looking specimens and onto the next pattie.

Keep shroomin
GG

Hey GG,
unfortunetly, Myakka City and further south, did not get as much rain for an average June this year.  But, this past week we almost caught up for June, still under-average though.  It was raining the whole month of June all along the ENTIRE Gulf coast, except between sarasota and Naples(bummer).  I would venture up the Interstate, as the Northern portion of the coast has been under constant rain...but I am not a Florida native, so I dont know where the fields are, and dont feel like wasting gas(money) searching for possible fields.
thanks.

I'd be happy to back up that warning.

A close friend of mine and I "accidently" put 7 grams of dried C. cyanescens into a smoothie about a year ago...I'll tell you that its going to be the last time I consume mushrooms for a VERY long time.

Knocked my socks off into the universe. One of those trips where I thought I was dead and floated to heaven...literally. I actually was watching myself above my head. Once the come-up subsided (2 hours), I experienced the most mind-blowing visuals I have ever encountered. Truely amazing. I was crying because it was so beautiful.

But, yeah...you wont feel anything from those two buggers.
