Some music I've been working on...
    #2849574 - 07/02/04 01:51 AM (12 years, 5 months ago)

oi

been messing around with tons of guitar stuff lately, attempted to put something together today, just thought it sounded pretty cool and figured I'd share.  First time I've recorded something over 3 minutes long, so I think I'm making progress with the songwriting .  The part in the middle is kind of an abrupt change, but I think I like it that way, thoughts?  I think it kind of fits with the way the song goes back and forth from dark sounding to happier sounding,  or maybe I've just had too much to smoke :rastamon:...

it's all clean guitar, just a basic outline, there's lots of mistakes, especially towards the end .  I'll try to fix it up tommorrow.  I think there's lots of room for other stuff in there though, should be fun to play with for a while .  anyway, yeh, check it out and lemme know what ya think plz n thx

not bad, although the actual recording sort of makes me cringe... you may want to adjust the levels for your bass, it appears to have some digital clipping (or waaay to much analog clipping). Maybe some more compression would help smooth it out.

anyways I liked the progression and variations.

check out a little bit of what I like to make:

 yeah, I make do with what I have as far as recording goes, it's not meant to be a pro job, just went from 4 track tape to the comp.

I dig your track dude, that's fuckin cool shit, I need to get myself a keyboard I can't do anything with this fruity loops computer shit and such, I need something to beat on .

Thanks for the feedback

actually, I'm not a fan of fruity loops / acid / reason, etc. I have used them before, but I prefer hardware to software anyday.

That track was made with the Ensoniq ASR-10 keyboard, Akai MPC2000XL drum machine, SP-1200 drum machine, and recorded on the Yamaha AW4416 recording console.

needless to say, a majority of my money go towards recreational purposes, and music gear.

Excellent, I'm glad I didn't miss out on this one!

It has a sort of medieval sound to it, and a lot of feeling. Very good job!

It can only be that you are missing a codec, for your mediaplayer.

Check if the player is set to download the codec when it hasn't got the codec yet.

I like your track buddy, I can tell you're classically trained, or at least you pull it off like you are

Your progressions are sweet, nice and cadential. Doesn't leave me with just a cool sounding 4 bar phrase, you actually have somewhere you're going harmonically.

Well done, I'd love to hear something better quality, and i know you'll get there someday. It IS possible with FL, as long as you find a decent wav recorder like CoolEdit or SoundForge.

Thanks man, I'm not really classically trained, but I take the fact that I fooled you as a great compliment .  Mostly self taught, I do play alot of classical music and took a bunch of music theory in school though, that probly has somethin to do with it .

stefan: hrmm, I'm not sure about the video clip not showing, I forget what codec I used to compress it, I thought it was DivX or Xvid.  It just opens in the IE window when I click it.

thanks for the good words ya'll, keeps me motivated
