Hey shroomers,
From Australia, would like some info on how to increase yields/ mycelium for store bought type mushrooms ( White/ button - sp - Agaricus bisporus ) that are set up in a DIY grow kit by parting out sections into multiple new tubs with fresh non inoculated substrate for increased yields vs purchase price.
I've tried to grow Victorian P.sub's from wild mycelium to no avail so it would be nice to gain some experience and to be more self sufficient with my food production with the raising costs and such that we all experience.
So this is the kit in question: https://gardenworld.com.au/shop/plants/seedlings/vegetables/mushroom-kit-white-button/
i plan to just divide it up into 4 - 8 plastic tubs yet being a bit of a newbie to this i need some advice on substrate, method, dark periods to spawn and when to add water and nutes such as gypsum and organic matter.
do i just mix a part of the mycelium kit into new substrate, add some water so its damp but not dripping wet by hand crush and seal the tub air tight ( or does it need air ? ) with no light in a warm place at 77f - 25c ? how long do i leave in dark period for?
do i need to pasteurize or sterilize the substrate, and if so best way to do it ?
coco coir ok for substrate? what should i add for nutrients such as gypsum etc and organic matter? i'm very curious to know what hydroponic nutrients would do for a mushroom grow?
Info: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agaricus_bisporus
mycelium growth temp:
"The effect of different temperature was evaluated on mycelia growth of strains of A. bisporus. Mycelial growth of all three strains on 25°C was obtained fast and full growth (9 cm) completed in 8, 10 and 14 days respectively, followed by growth of mycelial at 20°C and 30°C were similar performance in all strains of A." https://www.researchgate.net/publication/279758571_Effect_of_culture_media_pH_and_temperature_on_mycelial_growth_of_Agaricus_bisporus_strains#:~:text=The%20effect%20of%20different%20temperature,in%20all%20strains%20of%20A.
Thanks gang
