Someday I hope to come hunt up that way so this is also research for me as well. Thanks!

Check out the info in the link and also review what people are finding in the thread. Take notes on general locations mentioned and habitat in the photos or description. Review past year's threads for info and check the general dates and conditions mentioned.
The PNW thread gets pretty cluttered every year with similar (albeit reasonable) requests for detailed info. These threads are for posting verified finds and general ribbing. Often requests for info like yours are frowned upon.
Those that have had the most success hunting in the PNW put in lots of research (especially reviewing old seasonal PNW threads) combined with putting in LOTS of footwork out hunting.
Good hunting!

Nice find HH!
Lol. I plan all year. Anything I do is to ensure a find before piggy. It’s not an easy task. I can thank MM for this patch. It is steps away from my parking space at work.
in 2014 I got home excited to put up the first post about the mega patch of ovoids only to discover you beat me by just over an hour
You bastard, great work

I am nominating Pholiotina smithii as the cutest mushroom or all mushrooms. If only I could get these little things to toss me a gram😪 Hard to focus when they’re that small.

I’ve yet to find a lib. Gonna eat it like a cow when I do.
I hate dehydrator pics. This is for your motivation and fear of missing out. So far I’ve picked 3 of your patches. Lol
OFF topic:
Oh I hope if I’m ever in a hostage situation I am in the same state of mind as this pooor lady. She seems like she’s having a good time.

My partner and I had a glorious day on the coast! It was our first time being able to get out this season, so we were extra excited. The weather was perfect, the mushrooms were vibrant, and we were even treated with spotting a small heard of Elk nearby.

We spent about 5 hours navigating through the scotch broom and dune grass, mainly following game trails, to uncover these friendly fungi. It seemed like the biggest patches were found in areas with a lot of elk/deer activity, especially places with fresh scat.

By the end of the day, we had nearly filled our basket and went home feeling pretty stoked that the season is here again. I haven't had a chance to weigh our haul, but I'm guessing around 400-500grams wet and there are plenty more coming!

yup, they were itty bitty. I covered them up with a bit of leaf litter to try to improve their moisture retention, and to prevent folks from picking the pins. people can be so impatient. I, for one, not only enjoy foraging for the sake of consumption, but also bc wavy caps are genuinely so beautiful in full maturity.
I also only spotted them because I was hunched over at a different section checking out the birds nest fungi

This patch was one of the last to fruit in the spring and the first to fruit this fall. It’s really cool, it looks like it’s colonizing the straw from the grasses and the natural woody debris that drift into this spot on the creek bank. looks like it’s spreading downstream also. Right on a beaver trail.
