This transition to organic soil has proved to be a learning curve for me. Ive been using soilless for so long, the watering habits are so different.
I want to get a 4x4 grasroots bed and go no til and bottomless pots but dont have the $ rn. So I decided on a 30 gallon pot and grabbed a cpl bags of coast of maine, mycos, and a bag of roots organic terp tea, grow 7-1-1
Think I'll grow one plant in the 30g and try to build on the soil. Gonna put a cpl gallons of vermicompost with worms. Guess I'll have to get some other beneficial critters, as well.

Not doing too bad for the coast. Wish i could let stuff ripen fully here, fingers crossed for another couple dry weeks, had to pull a couple early after some rain.

I had to start taking a couple smaller plants down a couple of days ago that were particularly problematic.
Trichomes Are still mostly clear, but they needed to come down unfortunately.

I think growing in the city is really advantageous when it comes to pests and disease. I rarely have insects or even mites and the city doesnโt get nearly as Dewey at night.

Any recommendations that I can grab on a budget to kick start this into a living soil would be greatly appreciated. In a somewhat order of immediate necessity, would be even better. I'm pretty broke rn and will have to get things as I can
I read about sprouted alfalfa tea, so I got some seeds soaked now. I added a new tray from my worm factory, bedding and all, and mixed it in the top layer
Coast of Maine growers mix and a newer tray from the worms in here so far

Picked this up yesterday
Plan on adding myco when I transplan and topping with the barley straw. After that. Then...

I currentlyuse the followingto build up my living soil base, the ingredients being the important part here.

Then I add nutricast ;
https://gebco.co.za/portfolio-item/nutricast%EF%B8%8F/

Add some gypsum and make some lactobacillus, you'll be set.
Can add some insect frass as well.

The element blend has some excellent additions with the DE, biochar, etc. I buy lots of the amendments separately and mix them up as needed.

I was just saying the same of salts. Figured I would brush up and run that LAF with salts this time and man it's been a while lol. Managed to over do the Mg and lockout the PK. That might be a new one for me. Plus I almost burned the top cola with the light. It was an ugly run, but I think I'm going to chop it at week 12 this weekend. I took a tester about 4 days ago and it's smoking so nice for not being cured. Got a feeling this one will be a special treat so I'm probably going to clone the next one. I'll try and update with pics before I chop.

As far as living soil: Getting a microscope and learning how to use it is #1
#2 is getting a soil test done by someone who can help you read it and decide what if anything your soil needs.
For amendments For ganja (or other heavy feeding GH crops like cucumbers and tomatoes) i usually amend with gypsum, alfalfa pellets, kelp, fish bone meal, vermicompost and nutripellet (OG slow release chicken manure based pellet) its a pretty good all around balanced feed if you already have decent soil. All promote a ton of microbial growth too,
alfalfa kelp topdress goes TF off
My climate is fucked for ganj and itโs be a waste since stuff starts getting budrot here super early, plus Iโm just growing for headstash these dayz so smaller buds r fine. but when i was doing it commercially in a better climate Iโd usually foliar feed with kelp and compost teas a few times during veg then top dress vermicompost kelp and fish bone around week 3 of flower, maybe another handful of nurtipellet and alfalfa if they were looking hungry and water in molassess and liquid fish or whatever other flower food you like.

Have you guys ever had bud that smelled like dough? The gorilla cookies x mimosa bud smells like bread and orange juice. I kinda hate it lmao I thought something was wrong with it cuz I found a tiny spot of mold in one of the bigger buds but at this point Iโm certain itโs just the smell it has. I still havenโt tried it since itโs been cured cuz I canโt stop with the PBB crosses.
I did get extremely high from the somango yesterday. Usually I only take a small hit or two off a pipe, but I had a 15 minute walk to the store at like 1am so I rolled a joint up for the way home. It was the first time I tried the cured somango too.
Itโs got a very clear headed psychedelic buzz to it. It was a lot different than most weed for me, it actually felt closer to as if Iโd had a very strong cup of coffee and a microdose that was too big. Couple hours later I was back to normal with zero burnout/groggy feeling which is also very unusual for me.

Aka, we're getting our seed stock back from one of our distributors. I'm planning on sending you the peanut butter studly crosses as well soon.
I'll send a couple crosses over via courier this time if any of the other gromies in here want to have a grow as well.
Glad you're enjoying that pbb cross.

Yea I def pick up some doughy notes in some varieties...Some classic GSC def has some doughy notes going on, the MAC1 I grew iirc had a bready-yeasty-like notes, it's never the dominant aroma/note though in the stains I've smelled it. I usually dig the doughy/bready essence, but there is this one peculiar funky aroma that is kinda "bread-like" that I've noticed a few times on a few different plants over the years that I've never known what is is and it smells kinda "off" in a bad way to me, I notice it on only a few buds on a plant, so it's not coming from the resin/trichomes, never any obvious mold/fungi on the buds that have the smell. First time I smelled it during my very first grow I thought it was "BT" that accumulated on some buds, but BT doesn't have that strong of a smell even when concentrated.

Nice!
I enjoy those smooth uplifting clear highs with no burnt-out or hazey-ness after.
I took down 4 of my plants (outdoors) last Saturday, 2-Hella Jelly and 2-Smell of Success. The Hella Jelly was the fastest finishing photo-period I've grown yet ("Slymer" is a close 2nd), if the weather was a bit better I would have let it go another 5 to 7 days but it was def ready enough. The smell of Success was also a pretty fast finisher, just ripe enough for harvesting but I would have liked to let it go another 7 days.
The 5 remaining plants I have in my room now and they are finishing their last couple weeks under a 1100w HPS (I keep it set @ 1000w tho)...This is the first time I've ever used a light and have plants indoors lol. They all needed at least another 10 days to go for a proper finish and they're all the plants I was looking forward to the most, so I HAD to get a light. I was very surprised to see how cheap HID/HPS lights are these days, at least around my area they're almost difficult to even give away for free lol, for $50 I got a 1100w (bulb, ballast dimmable from 600w to 1100w, hood, & cord), it is used but it's doing the trick and the shop said if it burns-out or dims-out on me anytime soon they're replace it. I just need it for 2 weeks or so to finish up these plants, whenever I get around to doing a full indoor grow I'll likely go with LED.
The plants are loving the full 12 hours or direct light though, they never got 12 hours of direct sun in the spot where they were growing outside even during the peak of summer. Also the drastically dryer air in my room, since I have a dehumidifier going I'm keeping my room mostly around 45% to 60% humidity which is a lot dryer than the humidity outdoors here. Also the warmth, temps in my room are around 69 to 78, much warmer than the 45 to 65 that it's been outside lately.
I've already smoked some early picked buds...and some of it is some of the best/most flavorful flower I've ever grown, even picked a bit early and dried a bit quickly.
I will give y'all a full rambling report/review on everything once I have it all taken down. I will most definitely be growing more genetics from Twenty20mendo in the future though, very impressed with everything I grew from them this summer.

Nice setup preperationh. Your plants look a bit flushed but ok. Are you giving them enough nutrients? I grew 5 runs years ago with a tent that size with a 250hps in it.
