Carnauba Wax coating for Gummys

Hello everyone!
I have a question, hopefully someone can answer it ^^ I just made a batch of gummys and coated them by hand in carnaubawax-oil (5% Carnauba wax 95% sunflower oil). They are curing on my tabletop now for about a day. What I noticed is that the gummies are still kinda oily.

Now my questions:
- Do I just have to wait longer for them to cure on my tabletop until I get a dryer finished coating?
- Would it be better to put them in a dehydrator (lowest temp 30°C/86F) for 24hrs?
Thanks in advance for all the help and thoughts on this
Mush love

No comment about wax, I used cornstarch on mine. Left one gummy in a plastic container at 30C for a week and it got soft and tacky so would not recommend the dehydrator. What if you put them in the refrigerator uncovered?

Never done this, but I struggle to see how a mixture of 95% oil is supposed to dry in a reasonable amount of time. It will dry over time (weeks/months), but this will involve the oil saponifying and hardening out. It'll be horrible to eat.
Is the 95/5 oil/carnuba wax something you read somewhere? I'd sooner expect something like food-grade ethanol being used as a solvent for the wax, which will enable a far quicker workflow and the end result will be a lot cleaner as well. Just dip and dry.

Looks like they pretty specifically mention that using that coating recipe, a very, very thin coat should be applied.
Quote:
The key to this process is using as little oil mixture as necessary, so there is no excessive dripping or saturation of oil.
I think you've just found out why. Oil doesn't evaporate very readily, so an oil-based layer doesn't dry well. As long as it's very, very thin, you can get away with it. Apply a little heavier and it'll remain a sticky mess for a long time.
Compare with oil paintings; these of course have rather heavy layers of oil on them, and as a result may take up to several years to entirely cure and at least several months for lighter applications. I wouldn't be surprised the coating on your candy will take several weeks to dry up and harden out. Heat will surely help, but heat them up too far and they'll melt, so be careful. You could give it a go in the dehydrator and see if it helps any.

thanks, yeah I really didn't use that much tbf, like 4 fingertips of the mixture and rubbed my hand with it, then just coated the gummies by hand. But it could have been a too "thick" layer maybe, have to see next time to just use one fingertip of the mixture and try it that way.
I had one gummy for 24hrs in the dehydrator (my lowest temp is 30C). It was "dryer" then the table top ones. I might maybe try and just mix them by hand in a bowl, and whipe off my hands a few times, taking away a bit more of the oily mixture by hand without wiping too much off.
