Question about Agar plates/pots, air & holes. Would love a little advice

So long story short I ended buy buying plastic but were meant to be PC'able they were not even close. Ended up buying some of those small sauce pots or for the Americans Deli Pots. These thank god survived the pressure cooker but in my rush of excitement and lack of knowledge/muscle memory I forgot about the step where people put little holes for air exchange, an easy port to inoculate without opening the lid or both.
My question is what will happen? Wil these holeless pots/plates not work. If not should I make holes using red hot craft knife and quickly chuck some masking tape over so air can move but goes some way to keeping contams out.
If there is anything you think I should be asking but have not, general advice etc please do let me know I would greatly appericiate it

So you're trying to PC agar plates? Pictures of these American Deli Pots would be helpful. If they're the plastic containers that you get filled with potato salad at the store, next time I would drill/melt a little hole in the top and cover it with micropore tape to allow FAE. Similar to how Pasty Plates are done: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/19208976
In your current form they should work fine. If you go poking holes into them now you'll risk introducing contam. Myc can grow on agar with very little FAE, but someone smarter than me chime in if I'm wrong on that.

Pots already been PC'd just need to know if without these holes will I encounter problems with growth etc?

So the pots are all good tested for longer than tek called for literally perfect. I just wanted to know how vital the hole in the pot is aka can I just leave the ones already done and make sure to add holes for the next round or is it essential that these pots need a hole to work properly? Ive had a little look around and from what I can gather they should be ok but I couldnt really find a concrete answer for this? Obviously I would rather not make holes with hot craft knife if they will be fine.
The only thing I did come across was that the holes are for pressure cooking although strange I had no problems but then maybe the deli pots do have enough airflow that they couldnt build up pressure.
Would just like a little info from someone in the know to advise whether I keep them as is, make a hole or of course if another course of action is offered I am all ears?
Does that clear up what I mean mate?

It does. For this round I would not make holes in them, it would likely only introduce bacteria. If they worked fine in the PC then I would assume they're fine. One thing to note is that the steam is what sterilizes inside the PC, so I wonder if the steam was able to get inside the jars and properly sterilize.
Again, if they look fine, just proceed as normal with this round. The more you mess with them, the more likely they will contaminate.

So is the only purpose of the hole to stop them potentially exploding and turning the bottom of the PC into some wierd mix of kids birthday jelly or jello for you yanks and malt extract and to also allow in steam to steralise. I never looked into it much but I had always assumed it was the heat created by steam within the PC. How does that work when people put in mason jars with agar as those lids would be sealing so no steam inside or am I missing something here?
Yeah they look perfect as in I started plenty and dont forget this is my first ever time working with agar prior I had only done PF tek. I am pretty obsessive doing things right so I feel my technique is pretty good at keeping contams out.
Lastly the hole has nothing to do with air exchange in regards to the agar medium itself and growth but solely to stop them going bang and to clean them properly inside/out?

Any time you're seeing someone PC a jar they will either leave the cap a bit unscrewed (for media bottles) or will have a FAE port drilled into the lid (with a filter over) so they don't blow up, and so that the steam can make its way into the jar.
FAE is always good for myc growth, but very little is needed for agar. I would guess myc will grow fine on your plates even with a sealed container.
Anyone smarter/more experienced than me please correct me if I'm wrong.

Ok thanks alot. Seems to be kind of along the lines of what I read although it certainly was clear as to what and when they were referring to certain bits such as sounding like FAE was needed for growth rather than to do with pressure cooking.
Of course still early days but not a single plate pot or petri has any sign of contams and most like 9/10 have varying levels of myc growth. I totally get why people much prefer agar. Its pretty simple. Low cost if you go all in and buy up supplies much of what we use can be reused barring a few parts of course.
Only a couple of those non hole pot plates have any spores worth anymore they were ones I collected learning to take, store then make syringes out of prints so I thought it would be an idea way to check both my agar & print/syringe technique. Although a little slower even those are showing great results but looking forward to the Jedi Mind Fuck & Stargazers to be ready.
What is your favourite type?

fuck yeah brother. It's also the key to unlocking big ass flushes. Sounds like you're on the right track, looking forward to seeing some of your grows!
My favorite varieties are all albino, namely True Albino Teacher. They're super pretty and best of all albinos don't drop spores, so if they overgrow a bit they won't drop spores all over the place and make a big mess. Albino Penis Envy (APE) is all the rage around here these days so I'm gearing up to take a shot at those as well (basically Penis Envy with the same desirable albino traits)

I know its all relative on mushroom type/sub strain whatever we call them Im used to working with seeds not mushrooms lol but what sort of yield wet or dry do you manage from a tub of what size? Any tips for getting impressive yields?
Yeah I can imagine a trait like that is helpful they getting messy enough sporewise when its PF/BRF cakes and obviously only a small part of the tub is actually doing anything in that instance.
I will be sure to upload them when I get going. First time ever working with coco coir for mushrooms so first time will no doubt be interesting. From the images I've seen on here yields look pretty damn impressive. I get the feeling I am going to end up with more than I know what to do with lol
