The proof of the pudding is in the eating.

Only by testing seed grown hybrids can you know how strong each one is.

Regular bridgesii tend to be consistent.

The hybrids have the possibility of being stronger as each seedling is like a unique individual.

Can Pereskiopsis spathulata be grafted to apple cactus. And if so which would be the root stock. Also if you are growing a grafted cactus on a rootstock will the rootstock go on to produce flowers as well as what's grafted to it or will only the cutting grafted to it produce flowers?

Anything?

The one with the roots would be the rootstock, what you're talking about is scion on scion I guess? Or maybe the one in the middle would be considered the rootstock for the one on top?

If the roostock is producing flowers, it will be transferring hormones to the scion that might also encourage flowering.

I really thought this pachanoi was dead, and it's been sitting on my shaded windowsill for months. Just noticed this pup yesterday.

I can't believe how resilient these cacti are. But now I'm not sure what to do. There are no roots emerging from the cactus anywhere. I tried rooting with peat moss/perlite before, but they never did grow. Any advice?

Maybe try putting it in cacti-soil mixed with perlite:
20% soil to 80% perlite.
Check it every week once some roots start begin to mist.

Does it look like these grafts took? It's been about 3 weeks.

Temps are getting below 50F outside where I live.  We will have our first frost soon.  I'm bringing my cacti inside.  Can I keep them side by a window, or must they be kept in a dark place like a closet until spring?  They're all pretty small.

I think it's better to keep them in the dark and cut watering to minimal to encourage dormancy.  But trich are tough and will be fine either way.  My brother leaves his in the window.  I put mine in the basement.

Also they can survive a light frost, even in a pot.  So, no need to rush.  There's reports of outdoor planted trichs being fine with 17f.

Question of my own, what's the best time to transplant?  Spring as my cacti are waking up?  Or fall before I put them to bed?

I keep mine outdoors until the high 30’s.

I’d say the spring to transplant personally.
I’d want them woke and ready to push out roots from the jump.

I have a space issue with some potted Trichs and need some advice. I'm planning to take them out of the pots, and shake off some of the loose dirt so I can pack them tight together in some sort of plastic bin to overwinter. Will the roots all die out of soil? There will still be some soil stuck to them.

and then come spring I will repot them out where they have room to grow. I just can't fit all the pots in the small space I have so I need a solution and this was my first guess.

That’s not how that works, it’s way more complicated than that, there are thousands of unique ss02 crosses out there for example, you’d have to find a specific individual plant that produces a lot of alkaloids and go from there with propagating and breeding it etc.. there are many sought after clones out there though that are widely distributed for this very reason.
