Lithop, I bet these clouds were stunning from your perspective! Beautiful spots you chose for your trip!
I finally got the fuck out to try out my new mountain bike.

...and went for a hike in the nature reserve in the afternoon.

...came back feeling completely balanced. I really needed that.

Almost TOO stunning... The trail on that second pic looks inviting, cool fuckin view! Gotta get myself a bike again... Glad to hear it was a good time man, excersise and nature definitely allow some balance back into the picture.

Really love tripping out in nature....

Caught that sparrowhawk in flight with anomalous sky at the woods edge.
 This peacock butterfly was amazing.
Stood transfixed by a mallard hen with ducklings too, didn't want to spook it by getting close for pics though. The purple triangle on the hen was so vibrant and the ducklings... never seen that level of fuzz
Not much variety in fruits with how dry it has been here, hopefully that will all change soon!

 Pinnochio looking lichenised little guy.
^This is where my photo record dropped off for several hours.
^Then a nice view on the walk home along the river, great place to think and appreciate nature. The sky was alive with heron, egrets, crows, geese etc etc- all sorts of stuff- looking to the sky through spirals of birds gives such an amazing feeling.
Finished with Summer by now though, roll on Autumn- the supreme season and, IMO the best time to GET THE FUCK OUTSIDE!

I used to love tripping in the back country.. until the great squatch encounter of 08 I think it was. Now I just keep it local.
Finally got into the high country for three days recently. Olympic Mountains, Quilcene area.
Mt Walker view point. You can drive a dirt road here or hike/bike the trail. The water is Puget Sound and that's Mt Rainier in the distance.

Some views from higher up.

Down on the upper portion of the river there were plenty of nice Cut Throat Trout to be caught and a few nice clusters of mushrooms.

Pink Salmon are gathering in the lower river and still hitting just about every fly you drop in front of them. It's tempting to go back this weekend lol.

Wowee! All great shots, that place looks absolutely beautiful man! Very, VERY nice. That's my favourite pic that I left in the quote there, nice mushroom ones too.

That's Mt. Olympus in the back. View was from one of the camps. Somewhere in some really old photos I have the reverse view from the top. That was back when I could hike 20 miles in a day. I probably still could.. but it would be the only day. I'd need a week to recover.

Incredible places you post here. I get where you're coming from too, but man- if ever there's something worth taking a week to recover from, hiking that has got to be up there

Nice shot of that gnarly looking peak! Bet there's a wizard of questionable intent living up there.
For me today: an impromptu walk to a suspected liberty cap spot paid off. Love the feeling.

Awesome pics guys
I've been slacking on getting out, every weekend I've planned something has ended up being stormy. Heading out to Colorado the week after next though, can't wait to get back to the rockies
I did get out kayaking a couple weeks back though. There's a little brook that branches off a big river near me and runs a pretty long distance through the city, can only get up stream on it when the water is really high. Made it like 15 minutes up stream before we hit some downed trees and couldn't pass. Lots of ducks and swans the whole way down, it's a really cool experiencing paddling down through a city I've driven through so many times

lib hunting in norway! we have the right to go wherever the hell we want here. but camping is restricted to like 100m from houses
its quite cool that the main hobby here is to get out and enjoy some spectacular shiet.
and we have a tourist assosiation where you pay a yearly fee of like 80bucks and that gives you a key to 700+ cabins spread all over,. more than half of them even have a food storage where you pay later. its worked for over a 100 years now. amazing stuff

so cool. that sounds too good to be true. there are no military installations over there or something? does the king get a special little patch of forbidden forest somewhere or anything? are there wonderful herbs up in those mountains? is that all granite? can you take more pics of the woodwork next time you go up please? those cabins are beautiful they look like home thanks for sharing

yeah i really like it over here, its wet as fuck but the closenes to nature and the culture around it is great. there are very few open military areas. i guess they have penetrated the mountains pretty good by now.. The king is quite casual here (we have a "democracy") but for sure he have some amazing properties somewhere. no private forrests though i that sense, i guess they own quite some land here and there as investments.
quite some herbs yes. like wild thyme, rose root, and many more. its very depending on altitude and how close to the ocean and artic circle one gets. many different biotopes.
sure iĺl bring a better camera next time. there is houses like that littered everywhere. back in the days the only way to survive where to have pastures up on the mountains, now most of them are cabins with loads of libs growing :P

birch and spruce right? what is the wild fruit situation like is it the typical boreal assortment of rubus and vaccinium?

we are nearing the end of the post-reality era and turning back into that long awaited spiritual reawakening- the return to the concept of oneness: the reverence and rememberance that all is One. reality is taking hold as the true religion and will guide us through the post-nihilism phase to salvation. now the ravens, high preists of their order- are watching this all go down. they will be the last extant bird and will remember everything they see, and they will be up there fasting and screaming their hymns and cleaning their parasites with ice and sun medicine. bathing in the incense of the most powerful wind they can find, taking in the sulfur plumes and shaking the whole earth with their feet when they take hold of that treacherous peak. there was another bird too but too small to make out

maybe trying for just experiencing it first, and seeing if you wind up enjoying any little part of it. getting really good at being lonely helps a lot too. just so you know, ive been all over and they bitch about the weather everywhere everyone just sits inside all the time everywhere. seems like really good habitat for hardy fruits and all the woodloving actives down there. are there any cool plants to collect? do you want a bunch of random seeds from far away lands?
