I guess this goes here, I consumed the mushrooms as a sleep aid and not for funsies. So I have been apprehensive about the Amanita Pantherina for a while now, a friend has been trying to get me to try them for a couple years. He is uses them for a different reason and at a much larger dose. Jumping to the chase, yesterday afternoon around 4pm I made a tea with 1.25 grams of dried and crushed A P. I took them early so if they knocked me out I could hopefully get up for class this morning. After an hour I noticed a relaxation that was just slightly more than a baseline relaxation. No coordination problems or any other impairment. Around 10pm I re dosed the same tea but only .75g. I fell asleep easily and slept all night without taking 3+ unisom and this morning I feel awake and rested.
I’m sure these mushrooms can be dangerous, well I know they can because the guy I got them from was flown out of the Idaho mountains and spent several days in the hospital. BUT if used properly they seem to be a decent sleep aid if you have trouble sleeping. I’m going to use them for the next few nights as I just started a weed tolerance break and get worse insomnia than normal for a few days.
That’s my amanita story, take it how you will.

I'm in the same boat with the weed/sleep thing. Thanks for posting this. Almost muscaria season here.

To stop or take a break from cannabis I recommend valerian and melatonin for sleep and griffonia simplicifolia for mood. After all, adaptogenic plants or mushrooms can help with stress, tension and mood (Rhodiola, Gingseng, Astragalus, Reishi, Chaga, etc.)

Thanks! I do have some valerian around. I'll give that a try. When researching possibly using A.muscaria I became convinced that this really is not a safe route. Conversion of ibotenic acid may not be absolute and the A.muscaria has other liver attacking toxins not present in pantherina.

I have been trying to find them for ages. Found fly agaric which was great. But panther, will be my favourite. When I do eventually find it. Going soon, to some forests not far off. I think I will try my luck there.

The mushrooms are great. The mushrooms are fine. Give me them with lashings of wine.

Any time I have found them it has been in the late spring/early summer. I'm in the PNW.
