What’s considered full consolidation??

Is full consolidation when the mycelium has spread from the outside of a brf cake all the way to the center? I’m getting close to my “consolidation” period being over and I’m getting ready to birth some jars. If I open up my first jar, scrape away the dry vermiculite top layer and see that the cake isn’t white with mycelium through to the center, should I give the rest of the jars more time for the mycelium to spread to the middle? Or hence….“consolidate”??

I always took it to mean "a little beyond 100% colonization", like, it has been 100% colonized and the myc is just getting a better "grip" on the cake. In practice, I've never had a cake fully colonize on the outside, waited a week, then found out it wasn't ready. So I don't think you will have to worry about that. The only time I birthed a cake that wasn't fully colonized was when I had a bacterial one that refused to colonize one small corner, but I could see it from the outside as well, and when I birthed it, I dug out the uncolonized corner with my fingers, dunked and rolled in coir, and still got fruits out of it (not as many as the healthy ones.)

Ahh ok. That makes more sense. I feel like I’m learning to speak English all over again with some of the terminology and acronyms used on this site. Lol
