Hi, some years ago I received this peyote as present. It grows quite a bit, but as you can see in the photo I found it it had recently a kind of bite. I'm not sure, what could cause such a hole? Snails? Otherwise it seems in good condition, but it is growing alone, not making any family around, maybe I'm not doing something right for him? Thank you

looks like a mouse bite.. but it has healed over. Some just don't make multiples. (i think you could probably fill up the soil line a little bit, maybe with sand.)
i had a mouse that kept nibbling on my buttons and sometimes running off with them. so i made a live mouse trap similar this (except it was with larger juice bottle)
it works great, i caught the same button stealing mouse 3 times in the same trap, he kept coming back, so the last time i relocated him to other side of the city.

Could be a rat too. I used to live in a place that had a rat problem and they would easily eat my San Pedro cuttings.

Hi there,
Have you ever got any fruit from that peyote ? I mean, it's a red banana shaped small red fruit that grows from the top. You can collect seeds from those.
Apart from that, yes, the illusive new bodies that grow directly from the main fruitbody ... regrading those, I waited 8 years for my peyote to just do that. It happened like 2 or 3 months ago with no observable reason whatsoever. I really don't understand the mechanics for it to happen. Thus the "illusive" call. It can be related to some nutrient missing in its diet. I mean, I do have a vegetarian turtle and I collect the water she's in from time to time to water my peyote. I do it since last year or so. I noticed that after doing that, I got more fruits than before. I'm not sure but it can beneficial affect the capability of reproducing itself.
Anyway, I've got a thread myself about my experience in this forum with peyote, named "peyote from seed to fruit". You can check it out.
Good luck with you endeavors

Hi, thanks for the info, actually no, I've never had fruits from this peyote, not yet, but flowers. Maybe it has not been pollinated? Maybe it needs another peyote to be pollinate its flower?
