Psilocybe cubensis "Transkei" - Colonized millet spawned to horse manure, 50/50+ casing

I followed the same technique as I usually do, the only difference is the container type used to house the substrate and the chamber used for pin initiation. Colonised millet to sterilized horse manure, cased with 50/50 +. The pinning chamber consisted of a Rubbermaid with a 1 inch diameter hole drilled in the top and sealed with packaging tape for light. I have now transfered the casing to one of my standard fruiting chambers which consists of a Rubbermaid with a white lid. At this point I attribute the deformaties to less than adequate light or excess alcohol retained in the container from cleaning...either way it spices up my hobby. Oh...and for you perv's out there. Although it appears the shrooms in the second to last pic may be involved in anal intercourse, as their spokesperson, they want me to assure you (no pun intended) that they are practicing vaginal intercourse in the Doggy Style position...at least that's the official statement. Enjoy! Joshua

I realize this wasn't the greatest of flushes, but hopefuly the second flush will be better. I try to be honest and post my crappy fruitings as well as my good ones.
Enjoy!

yea, theyre not all that pretty Do you notice any differences between sterilized and pasteurized manure. Is horse manure the only manure you use, or have you tried others? How about the spawning of the substrate with millet? Any differences there? (ie spawning with rye grain or wbs)

I had a strain some time ago that fruited like those deformation "blobs" and never could pin even though no alcohol was used or any petroleum products. Glad to see someone else out there that had the same result.

Yeah, I get the odd odd flush too :-) I normally atribute it to detol (lysol us) I tend to over use it at times
Still, nice strain, I still have yet to try these, I like the white rims

I just realized that this casing did survive 106 F for a weekend. As my other casings that survived the same are looking strange as well, I am inclined to attribute the strange fruits to heat damage.

i second that notion. casings that were in the presence of a few 1000 watt hps/metalhalydes (in the same room(106 F)) had very similar results..

The transformation is complete...
...and the casing is contaminated

4/20
This casing did survive 106F and went on to fruit. Although it wasn't the best fruiting, at least it survived.

Those transkei's sure do get big, huh? I personally saw one that weighed out to around 2/8th dry.

Do you guys find Transkei's to be a worthwhile strain? AFOAFs first grow was Transkei's and B+ side by side, exact same methods using the PF tek. The Transkei's yielded about half what the B+'s did and were about 2/3 as potent. He's not bothered with thim since, so maybe it was a fluke?
