Extra cash in old electronics? 1

As stated I had been following this guy on TikTok and he gets gold out of electronics “the older the gold R “ it’s something to do on the weekends to maybe earn a little extra $$ fuck 3 bags of groceries at Walmart is almost 200$ but to it keeps my mind occupied I’ve been getting old ass TVs but 97% of your gold in the stuff is all gold plated u got copper , silver , aluminum and another element that’s worth money I’m just doing gold rn to see if this shit is even worth it
I seen a video buddy was saying a kilo of the “ chips “ will yield 3-6 grams of gold the trick is extracting the gold from the other bull shit so you got the easy boy way but my gold purity will only be 18K you could use stronger chemicals and refine it to 24K but I’m going to see how this goes if it dnt seem worth it then I’ll throw every bit of that shit away lol

All those chips on the top right are where a good bit of gold is they gotta be burned then put into solution you see gold and silver bc you might have a wire where half is silver half is gold plated silver

Extracting gold from electronics is extremely toxic, and often the old electronics themselves are worth more than the gold in them, if you know who to sell them to.

Hey, I've done all this before- and unless you're working with serious volume, it's almost better to sell the things in your picture, on ebay. - for someone else to recover.
The best way to get EASY gold is from RAM fingers, or gold fingers from video cards, etc. Then just soak them in Muriatic acid from the hardware store(for $15) run through a filter to get all the gold foils and melt it down. (which I've done before)
But trust me, unless you're doing volume, you're gonna lose money on the chemicals to refine it into 24k
I love scrapping old computers, that's where the money is at! CPU chips and ram fingers.
I've been scrapping electronics for gold for like 10 years now.
Any questions?

I have a question, if you have kept track... how much gold have you recovered over your decade of scrapping? Is gold the only element you seek to recover?

Basically whenever I see a computer in the trash or other electronics, I'll grab it and scrap it. I've been doing it for a long time, but I haven't really processed that much volume of material.
Around a half ounce of 14k gold on my recent sale?? It's not a get rich quick scheme. Mostly from RAM fingers which are the easiest to recover with the least chemicals.
Total gold ever recovered? Maybe a half ounce of pure gold if I refined it. But that's for free, minus my time( I'll strip boards while watching movies)
It's more of a hobby
I also save up the Crystal Oscillator things which contain silver,
and I also strip off the these tiny type of capacitors(monolithic ceramic) that have platinum/palladium. All of these except for gold I will sell on Ebay for someone else to process.
I also save up the gold tipped chips and of course the most valuable thing: the Processor chip( contains the most gold) to sell on ebay.
And then I take the cherry picked motherboards/boards tot eh local scrap yard for a lower price per pound- where they shred it and recover the copper and aluminum and everything they can really.
Did you have a specific question about something? I mostly learned by some really awesome youtube channels, and by having feet on the ground at the local scrap yards- where I worked a short stint at disassembling computers

No specific questions otherwise, just curious since you seem to be deep into it. Thanks for sharing from your experience.

Yep! Pretty much unless you have a steady stream of electronics/old computers coming in that you get at a low low price/for free, it's hard to make money with it.
However, I didn't sell all the gold I've recovered, I melted down about 1/4 ounce in a crucible with borax twice to help purify it, when poured it into a little "button"
Then I carefully hammered it out into a little "gold coin"
It's pretty cool to hold a little gold coin that used to be plating on peoples memory cards
AND would have ended up in a landfill.

Thanks for the reply guys ! I’ll try to get it all lol but extracting the gold using white vinegar, sea salt & hydrogen peroxide this method only will yield 18k vs acid making it 24k but I’ve went bulk im hitting older things I’ll show you below but im after the CPU chips
The chips ! That’s what I collect but by no means is this a job it’s a hobby anything to help my family

Very cool man!
Ive read about this before. I do scrapping too, on recyclable cans and bottles. If you know where to look, it can be quite fruitful!
Where do u get your old electronics from?

Trust me dude, I've done most all of it. The method you are describing works on pure RAM fingers, but it takes WAY longer than just using a $10 bottle of muriatic acid from the Hardware store( sold as concrete clear)
To get any gold out of the IC chips is REALLY hard. Look up Mount Baker mIning and Metals on yourtube, GREAT resource-- he did an extraction of some.
But CERTAINLY do save the IC chips, but save them up, and sell them by weight to a refiner!
Also those IC chips called "flat packs" that sometimes have a gold tipped corner on them? I just use a chisel and hammer and tap each one off easily.
ALSO! WEAR GLOVES AND EYE PROTECTION! I've almost stabbed myself really bad trying to pick off those chips!
