Please help perplexed grower

Please help me figure out my poor growing conditions. I've read the Comeback Kids post that is often passed around but, I keep getting aborts and only the perimeter of the cake will fruit viable mushrooms. I feel like they might need more FAE and I haven't ran mono tubs much, I'm used to Bod's but my new space and hot summer keeps the a/c on too much so I am trying to learn other teks. The mono tub is a standard 6 hole and stuffed with poly. I loosened up the poly on the top and bottom holes as I felt more FAE was needed, but it looks as If it didn't change much. Does that mean my room itself needs more air movement, or should I still take more poly out to where there's hardly any? When you crack the lids you can definitely feel that humidity and feel the stuffiness. Should I leave the lids off some top air out? Thanks for any and all insight. I had many great grows with bods ten but it didn't do well here so I am trying new things, please help 😂

They look dry AF. You probably have too much FAE.

The shoebox perhaps, but the mono tub has beads of water all over the surface. I was under the impression to not mist as long as beads are present?

Fair enough. It's a little hard to see, but staring long enough I guess you're right.
Has it been drying out and forcing you to mist it, or has it not needed any misting?

It hasn't needed any misting. I started with the poly real tight in the bottom and moderate up top. I switched it to loose in all 6. Should I remove it all together up top or consider running a fan? For those that run fans, how long for and at what angle in regards to circulating?

Here you can see the surface conditions look great in my opinion but you can see the Rusty Whites mostly only coming from the perimeter and blue caps are aborted already. This has happened several times with different culture so it's definitely operator error, but I just don't know where my error is. This is in a shoebox which I was to pressure regulated FAE just by design, how would I allow for more air, remove the top tub?

Usually side pins form because it's a better environment than on top. Compressing your substrate good and hard at spawn should help eliminate them, at least for the first flush.
It does look like there's plenty of droplets, but something about the substrate looks off to me. For one thing it doesn't look very colonized. Did it look more colonized at some point?
Whatever FAE you have should be passive and constant. Fans are trouble, fanning is trouble. It's possible that it needs more FAE so that the water can evaporate and induce pinning, but I'm not totally sure. I'd love to get some other opinions and observations in here.

Would misting the edges then be something to consider in hopes of more even evaporation? I get these great pinsets and then they just almost all abort and I can harvest the perimeter. I appreciate yours and hope to get some other inputs as well

It looks like you have a few tubs going regularly. Experiment a little.
Two tubs slightly more hydrated than normal, and two slightly less.
Then do the same thing with FAE. Point a fan (or make more/larger holes) at one tub with less and one more hydration to get better FAE. That way you have four different variations of fruiting conditions.

Uhhh… I don’t know of many situations where you want to point a fan directly at a tub.
You’re just gonna dry out the sub faster.

His tubs probably need more airflow. I recently did the same test myself. Deformed growth, and fuzzy feet. Point a tiny fan towards my filter, and growth cured visibly within a day or two. Obviously not a long term solution, but it was an easy test to show I need to add more FAE in the tub on next run.

Yeah that's what my next step is, I was just wondering if some wiser brains would be able to offer insight as to avoid this again.

Those pins are looking kind of stretchy, I’d definitely try increasing air.
Make the adjustments VERY small each time though, cracking the lid a tiny bit or adding a couple little extra holes can do a lot more than you’re expecting, especially if it’s dry in your area or there’s something moving air around the room.

How quickly do you see changes in the tub when you increase the air, 24hr type delay?

36-48hr IME. Will probably depend on growth speed.

If it’s too much air you’ll see the surface dry up bad real quick. Like 6 hours sometimes. But yeah for the pins to improve it’ll be a little while.
