I don't think Aljo is the GOAT, but he's more than proved himself a worthy champion and there would be almost zero ill will towards him if he hadn't first won the championship from a foul.
I think the only way Aljo loses this fight is with a bad gameplan, if he shows up severely injured, or doesn't care because he's leaving the division.
The nicest thing I can say about O'Malley is that he has effective striking against inferior strikers. Unless he's fixed the holes in his game, he should be subbed in round one or two. It can't be denied he's being gifted a title shot. His last two fights were a borderline robbery from Yan and a NC caused by him fouling his opponent. He's in a win-win situation. Even if he loses, his 13 year old fanbase will say he was rushed to championship.
Sean O'Malley is a twat.

I totally agree with everything you just said. Aljo by RNC, round 1. It’s probably going to be just like when he fought Sandhagen.
I don’t really like Aljo but I mean, even though his fights aren’t the best to watch, he still gets his hand raised.

I'm definitely a fan of grappling and good jj, but I like the spinning sniping shit better, depending. I like Sean's fighting style and that he is an underdog against the unstoppable funk master. I hope if Sterling controls him that he finishes and it's not a boring fest that could be much more entertaining with Sean on his feet, though that is on him.
Looking forward to other fights. Magny and Garry - did you see the press conference? I didn't see the original exchange that heated Garry so much.
Weidman at 39 saying he's back in his prime, getting so much shade. But then DC was winning prime at 39. They were on together going on about it.

Garry definitely brought attention to himself Conor style, but the content was stupid, secondary I guess to the marketing effect. He's 12-0 and can talk like the other Irishman. With improvement he has potential for star attention maybe. I would say take lessons from Conor but he seems different now.

For me personally, the verdict isn’t out yet for Garry. I’ve seen plenty of newbs make a statement their first one or two fights, slip in a ko or two, maybe a couple of decisions and then when they fight higher caliber fighters, they get humbled.
I read about Garry’s cocky bravado at the press conference. I dunno mang. On one hand, he is not terrible in the octagon but who has he fought? I’m looking forward to seeing his next fight. Neil Magny isn’t necessarily a prime, top tier opponent but even as a lower level gatekeeper(in my opinion), he certainly isn’t a scrub by any means.
Hopefully it’s a good fight.

Size not really a thing, just looked so in the gifs. I think a pretty bad stoppage by Goddard in a title fight. May have been done though. Surely there will be a rematch at some point.

I would think so. I agree, I think that was way too early to call it. You hear UFC fighters saying all the time they “want to go out on their shields.” Aljo kind of got screwed. I still don’t like him but the way that find ended was kind of shitty.

People were arguing he face planted, and was taking a lot of shots on the ground. I suppose. But a guy of that caliber turning to get up, I don't see how you can't let it play out. One thing I saw after watching the end again, is when he turned face down to seemingly begin to get up, Sean put one knee on the back. He was ready to keep him there control and continue shots. There's stopping it because of a finish, and stopping it to prevent the fighter from taking more damage in a futile situation. Still soon. We don't know if that would have been the case. Tough call. People say Sterling didn't argue the stoppage, but right after the stoppage he did put his hands like shrugging to the ref, why stopping? Though he was a good sport after, didn't argue, and applauded Sean.

He was over zealous, seeing the closing of distance, and got danced. He'll be back. It's hard to believe Sean would dominate him again.?
As they say, styles make fights. Someone else may take out O'Malley who may have Sterling's number. Sandhagen, Merab?

Bro, I dunno, I think O’Malley caught Aljo slippen. I think the rematch would be Aljo taking Sean down and submitting him right off the rip. He should have done that in the first place. I feel like the fact he tried to stand up with O’Malley was really not the best strategy.
I think the rematch makes since because as Aljo said himself, moving up and trying to fight Volk would be futile at this point. If Islam couldn’t submit him, zero chance Aljo can and I don’t see Aljo outboxing Volk. At all.
Holloway vs Sterling would be a solid fight though.

I think O'Malley's TDD and grappling may be underrated, but it seems Sterling should be able to get him down. Same problem would be with Max I think, even worse, a weight class up and elite striking and length, cardio, grappling.

Maybe there actually is an EA game-cover curse? What a fight. Reminded me of Stipe-Francis 1 with how tense it could get for the viewer.
