I think the symptoms they complain about most often just aren't provable. The root problem being a tyrannical system. I get debilitating migraines that should take away my ability to drive cars, but I know it won't help me get disability. Getting paid like I got an intellectual disability wouldn't be a problem for me if it was the truth. Besides they took away my ability to drive by consistently throwing cars at me and destroying mine.

nooneman said: IMO most cases (though not all) of long covid are psychosomatic, in which case mushrooms would likely be highly effective at treating it.
For genuine cases, where people were hospitalized and put on a ventilator or unconscious, I think it doesn't hurt to try. Any improvement would be a benefit in that case.
What are you basing this on? What studies have shown long covid to only exist in those who were on ventilators?
I've had covid multiple times, and got long covid the first time. Anyone who suffers from long covid knows what it is - its fairly obvious in most cases. The spike protein has been shown in study after study to be able to affect every organ we have, and can cause all manners of disorders.
For me, I developed muscular issues, lung issues, and neurological issues. That's cute that you think these things don't exist....but it doesn't help those of us who suffer from them. I'm currently under the care of an entire team of doctors working together - and I'm not just unlucky.....this is very common nowadays - LOTS of people, millions in the US along - suffer from long covid. We aren't talking about minor or psychosomatic issues here...we are talking about physical debilitating issues. You can get long covid from ANY case of covid...even if you didn't initially have symptoms.

Sounds like a fast lane to bad trip city if you ask me. Taste and smell return like the other senses - gradually and with a lot of effort. Mushrooms won't bring back her smell, 10 years of therapy at a professional office will. In general psychedelics warp the mind while refreshing serotonin cycles in the body, but they do not repair damaged nerve cells or electro-chemical pathways like she would need. A low dose could still be a relief to the mind, but a normal dose would probably bring strong negative emotions to the surface because she is dealing with a loss of 2/5ths of her life. Everything is altered by this loss of sense, and intoxication of any kind has the power to shift this woman's mood from depressive, passive-aggressive to all out maniacal, not that I mean to sound harpish.

So here is the update on my colleagues anosmia and trying to treat it with psilocybin.
Long story short: She was willing to try it but it didn't have the desired effect. But also she didn't really trip so the dosage might have been generally too low for her. 1.5g of GT just made her very hungry and gave her hot flashes as well as vertigo. No emotional changes, no visuals and unfortunately no change in ability to taste or smell. Still she is glad she tried it and might repeat with a higher dose in the future.
And just to make it clear: She is a strong, balanced and admirably resilient woman, trying to stay positive in spite of her loss. No signs of depression or being passive-aggressive or anything like that.

Bad news dude!!! Don't ya know that mushrooms mess with your perception of time. If she trips on them with long covid, she might come down with extra very long covid. That sounds scary as all hell to me.
I would suggest getting a 4th or 5th booster instead because they are so "safe and effective"
