Oyster substrate if I can't get Soy Hulls?

I'm looking to start growing oysters just for my own consumption. What's a cheap mix to use if soy hulls aren't available close by?
Would a 50/50, 60/40, etc mix of hardwood pellets and something like this work well? https://blueseal.com/product/inspire-rider/
Would it work to just use something like a quart of WBS spawn in a bag of hardwood pellets?
Any info on good yields without soy hulls would be appreciated.

You can use an oat bran or rice bran. both contain nutrients for myc to to grow.

That's probably similar to the WBS question. I've heard that oysters don't produce well with just wood. What ratio of hardwood to WBS/oats/rice bran works best?

20% bran is a good mix.
You can use spawn to supplement as well. Same ratio, about 20% spawn is the right spot.

Thanks for this. I'm going to try and pick up a sack of soy hulls on my travels eventually.

You will 50%-100% double your yields with soy pellets at Master's Mix ratios over Bran. I know I have read on here mention of someone finding something in another country that can't get the Soy pellets found something else to mix in there that produced as good yields but others finding it to be able to use it is cost prohibitive. I wish I remembered what was discovered. Because i wish I could get away from soy. But if you are only growing Oyster then Straw Pellets instead of soy pellets will produce a bigger yield. But those are harder to find.

Thank you. I'm going to start out with WBS at 20-30% and go from there. I already have it on hand. It will definitely be worthwhile to find some soy hulls though. If you stumble on the alternative mentioned, please post it.

I live in a horsey area and no feed store has soy hull pellets. One of them told me they have been impossible to get recently. I just had that conversation today, actually.
I can find a sack online for less than $20 but shipping is "call for quote" so it's probably unreasonable.
