one way to speed finishing is to put a tablespoon of vermiculite in the bottom of the jar before you load the substrate.
keeps the rice from packing against the glass and makes it easier for the mycellia to colonize the bottom.

I use the tall ones too, only drawback for doing PF style un-cased cakes is that being tall and narrow, they do get top heavy and can tip over, Easily solve this by birthing into loaf pans and piling up 50/50 mix around the base. Seems to help flushes and keeps them stable.

it's nice to see that other people use the tall jars also! The only drawback I could find is that they take more than 15 days to get 100% colonized, well most of them.
