Are decisions on grammy awards based on talent?
    #2846599 - 07/01/04 10:34 AM (13 years, 1 month ago)

Hi, I was wondering if grammy winners-nominees are chosen based on musicianship/talent (kinda like the oscars in a way) or if the decision is strictly based on how many records the artist sold...just how popular they are?

Well, I'm sure it's based on a number of things, but it can't be just talent... 50 Cent won best new artist, didn't he? *NSYNC has won quite a few grammys...

I hate the Grammy's. It's all a crock of shit, and I think based more on records sold and popularity, unfortunately.

a lot of the music that wins is so far gone it isnt funny. you dont need talent to sound good. most music today is done with electronics, not that that doesnt take talent, just not vocal talent perhaps. i think those awards are mainly a popularity contest.

Sounds like most rap, won on vocals only with somebody else's beat, the more primitive stuff can win.
