what to do with clusters? (pic) * 1
    #28463262 - 09/09/23 10:58 AM (1 year, 4 months ago)

i’ve been making my way thru self taught cultivation without bothering you guys too much with stupid questions, but this is the first time i got a tight cluster of mushrooms and i’m wondering what caused it? will they be able to be picked individually? also these are PE7 (or whatever they call it nowadays) and the foreskins are already tearing but they’re still so small… any advice?

PE and its variants tend to open their caps really early on and continue to grow so don’t use that as a guideline for when to pick them.  Those fruits have a lot of growing to do.  Pick them when they start getting soft.

You can pick individually in a cluster (just cut the fruit off/out that you want to harvest—don’t worry about leaving some stem still attached to the cluster, it won’t hurt anything and probably only be there for a couple/few more days anyway) or just wait til most of the cluster is ready and cut the whole thing off the substrate with a scissors at the sub level.

yeah i know they open their caps early but i’ve had them get very dark under the caps like they dropped spores but still weren’t squishy so i get nervous. i’m sure i’ll get more comfortable as i get more experience with these. thank you though! i’ll continue to fan as usual and keep everyone updated with the progress

Stop fanning it’s old outdated advice and causes more issues than it solves (which is none).

Fanning isn’t something you should have to do.  If the tub is unmodded, I’d just flip the lid or crack it to give it passive FAE.  Obv you can do whatever you want but a steady flow of balanced FAE is gonna be more helpful to your subs microclimate than fanning it, ime

Clusters are great. As stated just let them grow out and then harvest in whatever fashion suits you most, be that plucking and cleaning them off, or perhaps even slicing them off at the base with a blade like some kind of Samurai. Whether they stay together or not is always a surprise. Some will stay together and some will come apart.

Very nice work friend. In honor of your cluster......

Here's a cluster dump.
