Young cacti need humidity. After a couple months, they can harden off and become tolerant of low moisture environments like most adult cacti.

They also do well in there because its heated. What's SGFC? Some kind of fruiting chamber? Probably not if there is not enough light.

No, I don't plan on grafting them. I'm not even sure if they will ever be consumed. We'll see in like 10 years from now

Returning here to this old post is like revisiting a time capsule, reminding me of the age of my Lophophora. Unbelievably, they have now reached the impressive age of 12 years!

So much has changed over 12 years. I've learned and grown so much.  Remarkably, 14 Lophophora cacti from that initial batch 12 years ago still thrive in my care. A few years back I cross pollinated some of these plants and collected seed which I planted and grew on a new generation of these wonderful plants.

Reflecting on my past grow setup, I'm amused by how quaint it appeared. The memory of that betta fish brings a smile to my face. I chuckle at the thought of relying on fluorescent lights – a stark contrast to the LED grow lights that I have been using for what feels like forever. Yet, that's how we did it in those days.

I did finally experiment with grafting these plants (from my latest seedlings) just this past week. It still fresh, but a couple grafts seem to have taken hold. I’m now getting excited about experimenting more with grafting cacti in the future.

As for the update I'm referencing: No, I haven't consumed any of my plants thus far. But who knows what another decade might bring?

Sending positive vibes and green-thumb energy to everyone here on Shroomery!

I'm on YT

My 10+ year old Lophophoras that I grew from seed make the occasional appearance with lots of other cacti, succulents and houseplants.
