Psilocybe Cyan QUESTIONS
    #2845419 - 07/01/04 12:20 AM (12 years, 5 months ago)

Here is my one problem,I can belive that I didnt ask this already, I have been rolling this around my cerebrum for days

Should I..........

Spwan the colonized popcorn(wbs etc) to woodchips INDOORS??, grow a fat brick of mycelium, and THEN move it outdoors???

Should I.....Spawn the popcorn to woodchips outdoors at about the right time of year so that the incubation(even if in a tub) is dont by nature????

(the advantage I could see with the later is that there would be less contam risk??? right ????? I assume there would)

What should I do/What has worked for others in the past?????

what KIND OF CHIPS??? , I know that Alder works etc, but if I can get the best wood or second best second best etc., thats what I will get.
(do certain different woods have their own pros and cons??)

Also I have heard of people starting the mycelium in jars full of sawdust, does that work well /or better then popcorn ,WBS, etc for spawning
(is there an advantage?)

Anyone here think they can help a fellow alchemist out?????

A tek I used and liked was growing the mycelium indoors in jars (duh) and then spawning to bedding chips that I got at a pet supply. I can't remember what brand it was, but I think it had beechwood. The stuff was sold near the coir section.

I spawned mine indoors (after inoc from jars) with a tub and foil over it to colonize a bit, then I spread it in a hole outside with more bedding and I also added added a very minute tad of perlite to aerate the final spawn.

Covered with plastic a few days, then let breathe.
