No fruits, just mycelium?
    #28453682 - 08/31/23 02:25 PM (1 year, 4 months ago)

Hello all, seem to be having some issues. I have 3 shoeboxes, 2 of which had some pretty bad overlay. They were 1:2 spawn/cvg the other i did a kinda test on since i had 3 half quart jars of spawn and 2 quarts of cvg. The 2 that had bad overlay i decided to scrape the overlay off and cased it with 60/40 verm coir. Still not getting any fruits. Mycelium is poking up through the casing layer which looks like when it started colonizing the sub in the beginning. The 3rd does not have a casing, and is colonizing pretty slow. All 3 smell amazing nice and earthy. They get fanned and misted 2-3 times a day. It’s been almost 2 weeks since they were S2B. The 2 that have the 1:2 ratio colonized very rapidly and was fully colonized in 3 days. Any help would be appreciated.
Side note: spores came from grumpy gills. What are the chances they aren’t fruiting genetics?

I think that youre misting way too much. Unless maybe youre leaving these uncapped. Mycelium colonizes faster in drier conditions. Cubensis will slow down drastically if the sub is too wet. These tubs are set for leaving it until its colonized or even fruited.
And fanning is outdated. Unless you know that your sub is too wet. You could just leave a fan in the room if you really needed to.

Id stop fanning and misting. Put the lids on and let them ride. Maybe crack the lids if they are super wet.

I do leave the lids upside down and with a small air gap. Thank you I’ll try that. It’s been 20 years since my last time lol.

Yeah bro, I think the first guy is right, your substrate is probably too wet, I’ve had great success with grumpy gills fungi in the few months that I’ve been doing this.
