Doesn't mycelium propagate faster in the dark? Why should I keep the casing in the light when they are only shined with a couple of hours anyway? More light?

Its best to keep in the dark for the inital colonization at first, this is so the tray will completely and hopefully evenly colonize before pin set occurs. The subsequent flushes after the first ahould be left in full light, and not put back into dormancy, it won't help any cuz the casing is already colonized.

If you put it back in darkness you will set the flush back several days risking contams. Just rehydrate the casing and as the king said neglect it.

Going crazy will drive you mad, but once you get there the rest is easy.....

After the light casing layer is put on, how long before pinning will begin? Should the casing be cold shocked?
