That whole plate looks clean, I would also take the good looking growth around 7.
Don’t worry too much about myc selection with these, pans are really the only species I know of where selecting certain types of mycelium makes any difference.
You should definitely circle back to pans at some point, they’re tough but so worth it.

These are crazy fast! This is one the suggested transfers that I made on Aug 16. The long axis of the transfer is the depth of the agar. The short axis is 1.8 mm. Question: I am away from the plates for 16 days. Should I refrigerate them or leave them at RT? It going to be about 80°F while I'm gone. I suppose I could do both. I have a total of 8 T1 plates from 4 different spore plates.

"Wedge" is a punch biopsy with a 16g needle that I ground off the bezel and inserted a straightened paperclip as a plunger in a syringe.

6 weeks, no pins.

Yea it looks bad now but it didnt look that way for the first 3 weeks where it should have given me fruit. 1:3 ratio straight coir. FAE at spawn. Why do all my tubs go this way? Spawn looked like this.

It’s typical for nats.
All you can do is start from spore again until you end up with better genetics.
Peeling the overlay off the surface could help. I also had some success flipping the sub when I had tubs like that. Never got a good pinset but still a few good clusters usually pop up on the bottom.

I just started from spores all over again. Same things happened the first time. No matter what plates I use same things happen. Cant get pins with cubes either though. Dont get why

Have you attempted to set up your tubs like in THIS POST BY P9? It says in there that it is helpful for Natalensis.

Top layers are great for all. Got any pics of plates and tubs Aspect? I've had a couple of Nat tubs do the same. When I'm doing Nats, I don't go for ropey myc, I go for tom myc for them. All other cubes I don't.

My problems are likely something else. I cant get my cubes to pin either.
Heres a fresher tub

I’d try sealing up the tubs more for both types.
That last tub looks great except there seems to be a huge amount of air flow on the edges which is matting the myc up. It’s weird to see the edges that dry and the middle so wet still, usually the whole surface would dry up.

Twisted Nat
I’ve done 6 ms grows now with Nats and every one is weak potency wise, got almost every pheno they can give but nothing even close to as strong as an average cube Is it just me or is anyone else experiencing this?

Hi,
So I have some Natal Super Strain almost ready to spawn. If it produces the overlay like I see on these posts, would taking a sample of the overlay to inoculate jars with, when ready to fruit, produce more overlay, or would it fruit?
Thanks!
Edit: mine is MSS to Pf tek to CVG shoebox

Yeah, I’ve spent so much time reading about everyone’s opposite experiences it’s starting to burn, just happened to luck out on the genetics draw I guess.

Hello SnakeEyes212. This is a Psilocybe natalensis thread, not a "natal super strain" thread. There are vendors out there saying they're selling a "cubensis" strain and then give the origin story of Psilocybe natalensis right after calling it cubensis. I wouldn't trust any of that ass hattery
If you would like to make sure you are growing what we all care about in this thread, check the marketplace or grab one from JW123 (there should be no overlay issues from them ). Most of us are making a point to spread the variety due to it's unique characteristics and overall better time.
tldr: we grow Natalensis here. Not whatever the fuck Natal Super Strain is.

Thank you for clearing that up! I just made it to enough posts to enter the marketplace. I appreciate you guys. Y’all are the real deal.. I spent money on these automated temperature control air pump blah blah kits to come here and find y’all doing it like super simple. It makes me feel retarded, but I’m learning from y’all and I appreciate it!

Cloning overlay, is it worth it....?
Hi guys, I have some P.Nats that are into a 3rd flush and I keep on pulling off excess overlay. As the overlay is also active ( 3D rhizo ), has anyone ever cloned the overlay?, as it is almost akin to blobbing. Also once it grows out on agar and then S2B, would it produce fruits or just more overlay? What do you guys reckon, has anyone tried to do this before ?
