Hen or Chicken ?
    #28443598 - 08/23/23 08:49 AM (5 months, 3 days ago)

Found these at the base of a beech tree on an old cemetery in Germany. Not sure if these are hen or chicken of the woods or maybe something different.

They were looking nice when I picked them but had to keep then in a backpack for about an hour on a hot day and when I pulled them out they bruised dark.

Most brackets were about 20cm across and the whole clusters were 60-70cm.

My phone cam is not that good, took a few more shots at home which shows the browning too.

Thanks guys, looked it up and it matches the images I found. It's also edible. The more tender fresh margins a suppose to be good eating and the rest is worthwhile drying and maybe grinding to powder using for stocks and flavoring.

I'll give it a shot tomorrow.
