skip a step?

A friend has some equador (from spores) colonizing some SDA plates. She has had very good luck in previous attempts taking wedges and making myc syringes with them to inoculate grain.
She wants her shrooms soon as the summer doesn't last long where she lives.
The question is this: The plates look free of contams, should she just make a wedge transfer to the grain (to save time and steps) or isolate a few more times and/or make myc syringes?
ANy input appreciated!

I've read of people doing that with no problems at all.

I apologize for being unclear: Its not a question of whether its ok to inoculate with the wedge. The question is whether she should keep isolating on progeny plates to obtain a contam free piece of mycelium. She wouldn't want to stick a contaminated wedge in a jar.

The steps she would be skipping would be the transfer of the first wedge to another plate and then again onto a 3rd plate (this is to guarantee the resultant mycelium not carry contams).
The other step that would be skipped is the making of the spore syringe.

unless the contam is not on the media itself but on the mycelium.
