Returned to location where I found several Lib Caps last week. Only, found one this time and not a young Lib Cap, though maybe an older one.
Any thoughts appreciated?

Definitely a lib cap . From your pic I can see slight bruising (blue stain) on the lower half of the stem. Fear not it's still early in the season, you're lucky to find them this early. Give it another 2 weeks with the way the weather is here up north and there will be a full flush soon . Just out of interest, what latitude are you finding them? I usually find them the last week in Aug around Lat54 north Yorkshire moors.

Wow,OMG,another one! Thanks guys, you're wonderful, I still don't trust myself when it comes to identification.
I find the locations that are facing due North or North West best for the earlier ones. So I find my bearings first to increase the chances. I also picked lucky heather and lucky glover lol
I'm now drying them out, any advice would be appreciated?

is that bluing around the cap margin I see? the bottom pic looks a little blue, but I could just be seeing some other sort of non-bluing bruising.

To store them long term you want them to be really dry to where the stem snap . Food dehydrator works well or just dry them in a well ventilated warm place. Have seen members in the past dry them in the oven on low heat but I've never tried it .

Drying Lib Caps. Thanks, Yeah, I'm drying them in an open windowsill letting the wind dry them out. Unfortunately, not very warm, though they look dryish. I'll try snaping the stems.
Blueish stem, I didn't really notice it, the identification seems to be positive so confident enough to try them out, after I've collected a few more shrooms. I've tried to weigh them, not enough to show on my cheap weighing scales. I'll have to collect more of them or buy more sensitive scales LOL

Yeah. Really struggling this year. I'm down at 50m now with not a lot of moorland. I'm going to scope out some new spots. We're both from North England. Weather is absolutely perfect right now for it. Struggling with A. Muscaria this year too all my patches are dry. They go on and off like liberty caps some years are better than others. I am starting to dislike horsefields for them as I always do well on sheep fields with reedgrass..

As for drying, I used to do it with the oven on low with the door cracked open. Look up degradation temps of Psilocybin and psilocin then go 10 degrees below the lowest. Off out now early, looking for P. Cyans this year not tried those yet. Woodchip and white birch day I think for me.

I think it's early days yet, I hope I can find more Lib Caps on lower ground later in the year. Wish you luck.
Thanks for info about drying, yes, might try oven on low heat with door open.
I have found one more potential Lib Cap, I'll upload photos tomorrow for 100% identification.
