Anyone have a boat, kayak/canoe, jetski etc?
My wife and I bought a used kayak earlier this summer, been all over the local river systems and ponds, took it up to some lakes in the mountains. Really loving be out on the water

Thinking of picking up something like this for next summer for longer trips, some ocean cruising and to be slightly more comfortable just chilling out on the water. We want to go with something inflatable or rooftop capable so that we don't have to deal with a trailer or having to find a ramp/dock to put in on. This one packs down into a duffel bag and inflates in minutes

Planning to just hook up an outboard motor to it, there are a lot of cheap ones on craigslist. There are a lot of electric options that I'm looking into now but they're still pretty pricey for ones with a solid battery
I'd love something bigger but the cost, transportation and maintenance aren't something I really want to deal with.

I have a wooden sea kayak. I made it myself. Quite fun to paddle it (I use a Greenlandpaddle) . I wish I could go on an extended camping trip along some large body of water but I don't have kayaking partners (or the time to explore the waters). It is still quite fun to go outdoors with the kayak.

I like your kayak Feevers, I would need a truck or a roof rack or something, I could carry that to the river from my place by getting back would be a challenge. Rowing is great exercise

I've had a kayak since I was a teenager and I love it! I usually live near a coast so I do fresh and salt water year round, though little creeks and streams out of the wind are my favorite.
I caught a monster alligator snapping turtle last time I went out, pushing 4 feet long. Took me for a little ride haha.
My next boat will probably just be a kayak upgrade. Mine is only 11.5 ft long, something like 14 -16 ft with more storage and better tracking would be the next vessel.

We have a nice 18’ river sled with a 90hp jet, a canoe and two paddle boards, and a little kayak for our kid. My favorite boat right now is the 8.5 paddle board, it’s so easy to carry on trail, and it has a pretty aggresive rocker so it’ll handle white water pretty wel. It’s squirrely but It’s so fun and great practice for balance. We had a really nice aluminum drift boat, had it custom made and paid cash for it after a summer in AK, it just about sat there in the yard for two years after having our kid so we sold it, I miss havei g a drift boat and will have one again some day, but will just get a simple basic one. We took the kid to the lake with his kayak last night and he just practiced getting out and getting back on in the water. It’s really amazing to see his boat handling and water safety skills develop.

I can't imagine ever getting a boat. It would just sit around most of the time and get dirty and become an eye sore. I guess that's just not my lifestyle.

Boats are sick, it's just they're a real money pit unless you absolutely love them and have disposable income. I have a lot of family that used to have boats, nowadays we just book fishing trips on charter boats. BOAT = Break Out Another Thousand.
That being said, it looks like if you hooked up some outboards to that one you posted and kept up with it, it doesn't have a lot of mechanical parts that would be $$$ to keep up with so would be way more affordable.

I’ve got an old Royalex Old Town Pack I’ve had for almost 20 years now.
It’s dipped in many rivers!

I have 2 packrafts, 2 inflatable kayaks and a dinghy with a 10hp outboard motor. I've owed a few hard kayaks. I switched to inflatables because they're easier to travel with. You can hike thru the woods with inflatables and inflate on site! I haven't used my dinghy yet, but I've been wanting to take it to the bay. i really like my packraft. I've used it on multiple occasions and am considering taking it with me to Asia. If you get the chance, I recommend getting a packraft. You can get self bailing and ones with spray skirts if you plan to do white water. Or you can use for fishing or whatever

I was looking at building this boat.
https://www.clcboats.com/shop/boats/wooden-sailboat-kits/pocketship-sailing-pocket-cruiser-kit.html
I don't even want to ride it in it, it just seemed like it would be a fun project.

I used to live on a sailboat, traveled a bunch with it too, but haven’t been out on the water for a few years now.
That little pocket cruiser does look like a fun project christopera, it’s a cool little sail camper too.

I bought an inflatable SUP a few months ago that I have been taking to the sea and some fresh water
Was looking at renting a spot at the local harbor a few years back but costs started to rack up pretty fast

My family once stayed at some resort on Big Squam Lake and I spent the week on the hotel sailfish exploring the lake.
