Did I wait too long to start fruiting?
    #28435529 - 08/15/23 10:11 PM (1 year, 4 months ago)

Hey guys this is my first grow and my first post ever.  I have a few cakes that look like this but even more, like they are so dense it looks like snow on top with droplets everywhere. No pins showing or anything. My other one is pinning but I started fruiting when it was still like 80% colonized. I waited till these were like 100 or more.  Did I wait too long? How do I get these to pin with such a dense layer of mycelium on top? I'll post more pics in a bit of what I'm talking about

I think it looks very tasty, you just need to be patient and wait for them.

Please post what happened to your spawn in a few days (bacteria or pins), it is interesting to know. Also, does it smell bad?

It will produce a few fruit but I rate it will go green at some point.

No bad smell. I just used Nortspr bulk substrate no top casing should I add a top casing? It's not bacterial it smells fine. Did I not use enough bulk substrate?

Not trying to be rude here but you came here asking advise for your first grow which means you don't know what bacterial is.

I would assume with that much bac it would smell right sour as fuck and it smells like my other colonies but OK. And wouldn't it have turned green by now? It's been colonizing for like around 11 days now so that should have been enough time to determine if it was contam right? None of the bacteria I've seen for shrooms stays bright white for days it always turns some obvious color. Should I put a casing on top to prevent overgrowing and start pinning?

Here's some close pics of everything I got going right now. I'm humble and if you say it's contam then I'll chuck it because I have no idea what I'm talking about you're right. I just go by the smell and color. Any advice will be great guys that's why I joined this site literally yesterday because I have nothing except YouTube and forums.

Update here is what the bacterial fruiting looks like.  I am done doing monotub or bagtek stuff. Too hard to prevent contam in this northern florida environment but thankful for what I do get even when I fuck up haha.  Going all in one bags from now on!!
