question...
    #2842181 - 06/30/04 02:41 AM (12 years, 5 months ago)

I'm not quite sure where to ask this but I'm really clueless on this topic
ok, I met this woman and I'm really interested in her. I've never been with a woman and I've been considering sleeping with her.
Now, my question is, what type of protection should two women use? Is it possible for one to catch an std from oral sex, giving or recieving?
I tried looking it up but I couldn't find anything useful plus I suck at searches anyways.
thanks

It is possible to spread HPV and Herpes this way, all you need to do is touch the infected area with your lips, kiss her, and she touches you in the right place you have the virus. Or if you contact her where she is infected, then contact yourself in the same area.

I dont know of any protection however, maybe somebody else can elaborate on this better.

You can get herpes anywhere on your body. If the person infected with it has a breakout and you come in contact with the infected area while the breakout is happening, you get infected yourself.

Coldsores are a form of herpes.

The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity. ~ Albert Einstein

I think the only protection against herpes if you are with someone who has it is to educate yourself about it and to not be intimate when they are having a breakout.

Dental dams can be found at most university health centers or birth clinics. Using one of these correctly means almost complete protection.

well yeah off course, but I don't trust people to be honest.
I always use protection with every man I've ever been with, minus long term relationships, I don't see why I should do the same with women

I saw this one thing on TV where the woman just placed a sheet of celaphane over her lover's pussy and then went at it. The other woman looked like she was really enjoying it, nonetheless!

Why don't you both just go get tested? Might take awhile, but it eases alot of stress.

i have to second this. the only sure way to avoid STDs/STIs [unless you where dealing with a specfic and known disease/infection] is for both [or all] parties to be tested against them. if the person you are considering being intimate with is unwilling to be tested or if you yourself are, then i would have to advise against this kind of contact.

if you don't have experience with this kind of testing, it can be quite uninvasive. they can even test for HIV quite accurately with a simple urine test now.
