Tomentose mycelium overnight or mold? Wild Ganoderma clone.

*UGLY PLATE WARNING* I took five plates worth of TC’s on this wild ganoderma in my yard a few days ago, and this is the last plate where I was just over trying to cut small pieces if you can’t tell.
I likely won’t make a transfer from this plate, but curious if this wispy growth that literally appeared overnight on half the plate is tomentose mycelium (is that even a thing with ganodermas?) from this clone, or mold? My other plates have the denser white mycelium coming off the tissue but nothing like this yet. This tissue was put on agar 3.5 days before this pic was taken.

All that stuff that popped up over night is mold. You can see where the myc is starting to come off of the fruits you laid on the plate though. If you move quickly you might be able to grab a couple of pieces from that to take to new plates.
Specifically that top left chunk you can see some starting to grow on the plate although it might have been overgrown with mold by now. May also be able to grab little stands from the tops of the fruits that are growing out.
In the future if you can break the fruit open in front of a hood and take a piece from inside I’ve had an easy time cloning from inside reishi. They may take a while to get going but are a lot cleaner inside given the fruit isn’t old.

I recommend you to use some water agar plates to clone wild mushrooms. This is a great topic about this tek: Let's talk about Water Agar!

That's great advice, I'll give that a try, thank you.
Water agar doesn't provide the proper conditions for spore germination, does it? I could see it being advantageous for that if it does.
Edit: Read further into that thread and got my answer. Great tool. That will save me some agar plates for sure.

Just in case you had read something different I wanted to chip in that water agar is AWESOME for bacteria but in my experience does nothing for mold. Mold will still get wild as hell even with no nutrients. Excellent tool in the toolbox though. Especially for cloning mushrooms you can get inside of for a piece of inner tissue.
