Vote for Biden! 2024 * 2
    #28401297 - 07/20/23 12:30 AM (6 months, 5 days ago)

Hey guys! Biden is promising student debt relief in his latest presidential bid! The Republicans stopped him last time, but don't fret, my little chickens, because Biden claims he can still make it happen!

In fact, check this out: The (Big bad meanies at the - ) Supreme Court concluded President Joe Biden didn’t have the power to broadly cancel people’s student debt balances, but his administration is using existing regulatory authority to wipe the debts of over 800,000 people.

That's right, they are cancelling the debt of 800,000 citizens, if that debt is 20 or 25 years old, and they never missed a payment. You see, the Federal government was already supposed to have forgiven that debt, but the banks weren't keeping track of payments, and the Federal government wasn't doing it's job, so these debts that should have already been cancelled, weren't.

The Biden administration did the dirty work, of tallying up the number of payments of hundreds of thousands on students, and forgiving their debt.

Thank god for Joe Biden, getting things done! Now Joe Biden can claim HE forgave 800,000 student loans, without lifting a finger!

And don't worry kids, and all of you single-issue voters, who literally only voted for Biden on this one, particular issue (Which it turns out may be the only reason Biden was elected)... Biden is going to defeat the big bad Republicans this time. He promises! And you too can enjoy some of that sweeeeeet sweeet student debt forgiveness!

Vote for Biden! He's inspiring! Yaaaaayyyy!!!

Also: Vaccines are safe and effective.

*Mic Drop*

Bye.

Sounds to me like biden is doing his job as nobody else did it.  Trump might have funneled the extra to maralardassgo and never told anyone.  Things like this and biden going back and getting the railroad workers some sick days are the type of things that show caring and and are helpful and why he will kick the crap out of the human waste trump, whos Ideal of helping is raping people in department stores.  It is a nice contrast to run on.

Yeah I haven't voted since the first go
around with obama. Don't think he was bad economy wise, but wasn't so happy with all the drone bombings and war shit. Probably gonna vote this go around.

Biden told us when he campaigned last time that nothing fundamental will change, but that’s not true!

Roe v Wade was overturned!

It’s a shame we don’t have the willpower to write meaningful law that would allow abortions procedures. That’s the real issue.

I guess that depends on if you need an abortion and where you live.

Except access has drastically decreased since the repeal. I’m all for debating whether RvW was the right way to handle abortion or not. However, the repeal was a net loss for women and our society at large, even if it never made any sense in the context it ended up being used.

Access in the U.S., sure.  Nonetheless, not everyone, or even most people, live in the U.S.  Access to an abortion has always depended on where you live.

I can't say whether this is a net loss for women or not. I have no way of calculating that.

This law does make it worse for some women if the sole basis was income and residence.  That is easy to calculate.  It does make it worse for some doctors and some patients as is well documented.  The way it was decided makes it over all worse for America as a whole when the supreme court past rulings recognized individual privacy and now overturned that right.  Who knows how far that type thinking will go?  Thinking purely abortion or not after that ruling might be a bit short sighted and is to be determined.

Hopefully the right to privacy will finally be overturned.  That was never a part of the Constitution, and it's about time we recognized that.

I believe we should have a universal right to state-funded abortions right up until the time of birth and potentially even after that.  Nonetheless, creating an imaginary constitutional right is not the way to go about it.  If the federal government created a federally-funded healthcare system, it might be possible to make abortions legal federally as part of that.

That is a nice belief but with that logic, there is no right to self defense either as it is not mentioned in the constitution.  Many of the due process in the constitution is based on privacy as well as many property rights in my humble opinion.  The right to refuse medical treatment even if it kills you.

Again, if we want those rights, we should either amend the constitution or create laws that define those rights.  Having an unelected group of 9 people creating rights out of thin air isn't really a great solution, even if it does sometimes work out better for people in the short run.

Maybe they did not create privacy but instead recognized that the constitution was to put limits on government while still giving process to have a functioning society.
The constitution was the follow through on the declaration of independence which one could take to be specifically about privacy or at least god given rights.  The constitution has been amended and would lead to more being included and reinforcing the thought of privacy for all.

I think you have a fundamental misunderstanding of the purpose and function of the constitution. I'm all for amending it to include more individual rights, but pretending that the declaration of independence is relevant is beyond silly.

It seems to me like they addressed many things expressed in the declaration of independence.  Due prosses, trade, ability to peacefully petition, election of representatives (rather then king appointed).  I mean I understand one was a separation and one was a governing document but it seems to me the things causing the separation were not lost on document.  The fear/anger in the separation was attempted to be countered in the constitution. It had not disappeared when they sit down and created ours.  The function was to replace what they had with something they could live with.  They just made it legal.
They wrote many public debates pointing out just these facts and the flaws of the Articles of Confederation to get buy in.  Legal bearing?  One could say yes as many of the federalist papers published before adoption are back up to court findings. The supreme court agreed before is disagreed.

At the time of the ratification of the Constitution, and for nearly 100 years thereafter, the bill of rights didn't even apply to the states.  A state could create an official religion, ban political speech, and arrest people without probable cause up until the late 19th century.

For the first hundred years black people and women couldn't vote and, women could not own property.  On the other hand, there were zero court cases to test against the constitution at the start and have been many since.  Any law can be made but really does not have true meaning until tested through enforcement.
