The patches I've been to this season were barely fruiting. Some not at all. Last year there were thousands. I know for a fact no one else picks at my spots too, so I guess the conditions just aren't great right now...

Not a good season this year. Late rains and not much of it. Nature doing it's thing.

Man, I’d really like to see these west side subs. Is that side of the continent a lot dryer than the east side?

I think in terms of rain they're pretty similar. Subs in WA are only found in a very small area in the state called the "triangle", though. They also don't grow in native WA bushland, only non-native plantations (such as the eastern gums or pines). So it's a pretty different game here compared to over east.

Made it down to the same spot I went last year, managed to find some scattered around, probably the exact same amount I came across last year. More cars parked up this time and alot more rubbish scattered around the place too

Apart from Honky1 finding some about 4 weeks ago, anyone found any late August/ early-mid September Subs. Anyone still hunting. It looked like one or two people been out recently, fair amount of innactive mushrooms picked and dropped back on the ground. I’m just curious when most people call or called season done this year?
 Any comments welcome and appreciated.

Oh yeah haul forgot to post haul pic from yesterday’s hunt. Was driving past the area on the way home from a night out, was pretty toasted when I got there, spent 5 hours in one area and ended up 54 chunky subs all half dried already which is a bonus. Would loved to spend another 10hrs checking a couple other areas but didn’t have the time let alone the energy after a big night no rest.

Pretty warm out there shorts and thongs, super crunchy dry ground.
One thing I didn’t see was pins, not one and I didn’t see many on my previous pick 2 weeks ago at the end of August. So it’ will take 2 weeks for anything new to pop, probably highly unlikely this late and being over 20 degrees when I was out there it would be slim chances at best for maybe a few, and if there’s any more days 20 degrees or more it will be extremely slim chances. But all you need is a chance and a mushroom radar. 🍀

Hey guys, found these up in the Kalamunda area WA (backyard), came up after rain. Big ol pines close by house and these grew out of last years mulched beds - might be worth noting the mulch came from jarrah in Byford. Can anyone ID what they are ?

Candolleomyces candolleanus. It’s best practice to start your own thread for an ID request in the future. Welcome to the Shroomery

Anyone had any luck this season? I've been out a few times and haven't found anything yet. Still relatively new to this so I could use a few pointers if anyone is willing to offer some.

Mate I've been down the triangle a couple times trying to find some subs but have found bugger all. The odd gymnopilus purpuratas but yeah I'm also new to the whole thing to and pointers would be welcome.
