Optimal agar mix for slants? Do cubes benefit from wood in the slant?

Is there any point in adding peptone or yeast or any other additives to an agar batch for slants?

Also, do cubes benefit from a craft stick in the slant? Or is this just for wood lovers?

No, there isn't any point in adding any additives to your agar, slants or otherwise.

Yes, they do benefit from wood in the slants. Soaked piece of wood keeps agar from drying out as fast and provides a last refuge for myc if the agar does dry out.

"but Psycho, cubes don't eat wood."

Well yeah, they don't really eat coir either or agar but they sure as shit will colonize it and especially if it's infused with nutrients like a piece of wood that was boiled in agar with nutrients in it.

Oh that's great, thanks for the reply.

It's time to make an effort to consolidate and store my cultures properly. I'm thinking a slant of each culture plus small agar wedges in distilled water.
